Well, this just showed up on EBB today. Looks pretty cool, especially considering the price of the real one.

The cloners have been all over S&S Precision lately, haven't they?

To be honest, the price point on a lot of S&S's items is eye watering for moulded polymer and thier metal items are equally overpriced.

The kangaroo insert, the LAW clip and the Grenadge launcher holster are all between $100-$200 for a piece of kydex and a few bolts. It doesn't suprise me someone has been able to clone this for as little as $20.

That said it is very easy to clone something cheaply when somone else has already done all the R&D and you are using less quality materials.

Granted. But I'm not sure how much R&D "Lets make a big clip with molle attachments to hold a LAW/grenade launcher/beer can" requires.

Case in point;

Actually a lot, most of the products were designed at the request of an end user and adapted towards commercial sale.

To be honest if you buy a sheet of kydex in the same color, thickness, and large enough to make the law clip you are looking at spending about $80 before you invest in tools or time. On top of that s&s is a small shop, like tiny, they make everything by hand one item at a time, with the exception of the V-lites, they pour the gel by hand into a mold that makes several at a time.

considering what you get for the price of the law clip, and the quality of the materials used, the price point is a fair one. they've recently hit units here as private purchase and seem pretty freaking handy.

Fair enough, I bow to your respective better judgements.

I still think they are expensive for what they are. I'll be buying a replica :)

I can understand the fact that their production methods lead to a lot of man hours going in to each item which results in comparative high costs.

Unfortunately in this world of massive factories that churn stuff out which is just as well made but in far higher quantities (hence much lower price points), S&S's prices are still something of a bitter pill to swallow when you look at kit from other gear manufacturers. To my mind anyway.
