California State Sen. Kevin De Leon has submitted a new California bill called SB 1315.

According to the Airsoft Safety Foundation, "SB1315 is a bill that attempts to exclude Los Angeles county from existing state law so that the county can enact it's own laws with regards to imitation firearms."

This is the actual status of SB 1315 as of April 20, 2012.

More information and what you can do to help can be found at the Airsoft Safety Foundation. And any money you can send their way would be good - lobbyists are expensive.

Other information can be found here at Dr. Airsoft's website.

Vigilance, guys. Another bill like this can happen again. In the meantime, play safely and play properly.

Im surprised the local retailers havent put up videos like they did for SB798.

Also your link to the bill just goes to a page that shows how they voted. (for me at least)

They've been posting it on FB and also sending out emails to their customers, though yeah I haven't seen any videos. Isn't this their third submission for this type of bill after the first two got shot down?

Problem is the culture. People don't know how to be responsible these days and freak out whenever somebody even mentions something related to guns.

So liberal they shot down marriage equality....

The problem is the 'fear' culture we have in the US.

Hmmm.... why fear airsoft when you can have a real .44 Magnum under the pillow....

Or, is it because the guy fears that airsoft will suddenly kill all Tasmanian fruitbats?

I mean, there's nothing wrong with responsible firearm use. It's just that no one wants to be responsible and no one trusts other people to be responsible.

When I'm at the shooting range in UT, it's probably the politest and friendliest group of people I'm ever with. :)

Not in California.
Also, Hollywood should have something to say here. This bill will cut them off from safe firearm props!

*fruitcage* priceless, the stupid *suitcases* actually thought they had found 5 kilos of Columbian marching powder, and actually had a sniff of it off the safe zone table.

Wrong on both accounts.

Oh no, my gun won't work and I don't know why. Everything is exactly how it should be. Oh, I did break it though, do you think that could be part of the reason why it doesn't work?

I dislike every self proclaimed airsoft "wizard"; especially Jack Ma.

Wrong on both accounts.

What do you mean "someone can legally own a big scary handgun (read: a cheap .22 compact) in California"? Color me surprised!

California maintains a dumb list of "safe" handguns that we're permitted to buy.

While we do have some idiotic laws out here (bullet buttons, mag capacity limits and the such for rifles), when it comes to pistols, they're not as bad. We are limited to certain models as Kojak pointed out that are listed on the safe gun list, however there are 100% legal loop holes to buying guns not listed on the safe gun list (e.g. single shot conversion for the duration of DROS). And while the 10 round mag limit is a bit annoying at times, it just makes you work on your reloads. :)

That I will never understand. Did the guys who wrote that up honestly think that a person with criminal intent would be less dangerous being compelled to adhere to ammo restriction?

You wanna die with a man's gun. Not a little sissy gun like that.
