Website says £120.

I've been checking it for details daily for about a month.

Hopefully now people selling the old ones second hand will stop taking the ###### with their asking price. :P

If only we could get these in the United States.

Once they show up on ebay and stuff, I might have to try to get one here.

Yeah they said that they put the price at £120 to 'gauge peoples reactions' but decided to drop it down to £95

It's the classic margin vs volume scenario, SWAT have invested x amount of money into the production of these units and will want a prompt return on their investment, e.g. would you rahter be sitting on 10K in 12 months of product introduction or 5k of cash and 5k worth of product sitting on your shelf?

That is an incredibly sketchy generalisation of the scenario SWAT are facing, people are selling second hand units for £100-120, essientially setting the market price due to demand/rarity. £120 over the original retail of £70-80 is a bit of an ask. £95 ticks the box of being under £100, being less than the average 2nd hand price and seems a reasonable step in in price considering the improvements they claim to make (as well as the warranty offer for anything bar loss).

In short £95 is probably at the lower end of profitability per unit, but you're more likely to clear your committed stock volume that way as it putting it under £100 reduces the amount of weighing up a potential customer has to do.

Yeah, that seems about right. :)

Must suck for the people that have been meaning to sell an old one but dragging their feet or wanting to use their blanks up first.

Finding that they can no longer command a profit making price for an old piece of kit that literally gets thrown around. :D

Even when the original BFG was still widely available I regually saw them sell for £80 used, more than they cost new at the time.

End of the day who is the bigger fool, the person who tries to get as much as they can for a BFG they have or the person who actually pays the high price? I'd say the buyer.

I'm glad I did keep my two though, saves eventually shelling out £190 when I end up regretting selling them :P

Well, I cant see a customs person really going "Oh dear, that looks like a banana mag and its not an AK mag... CALL THE UMAREX HOTLINE!"...somewhere in germany, a lawyer picks up a red flashing plastic phone, V1s are launched at your house...etc etc

Oh yeah, totally the person buying them.

Until I found out about these myself and a friend were busy pricing up other reusable bangs and getting bulk buy terms from pyro manufacturers. Now we don't need to worry about it. Especially if we use the shotgun primer adapter. £8 for 100 primers is well cheap. :)

One thing I would like to make an input is that Dynatec is almost unheard of outside of UK. In Canada few would know it but most people only know Hakkatsu (Hong Kong) and Airsoft Innovation Tornado (Canada)
I'm personally interested, however the pricing destroys it.

I am pretty sure the problem with selling these abroad is legal.
I remember a thread where the American members said that this would need a letter from the ATF or was just plain illegal.

That and the price.

I have a couple of the original ones and they are badass.
10 years on and still going strong.

You cannot even begin to compare a gas grenade such as the Tornado to the BFG. The BFG has proven to be the most reliable bang delivery device ever known , bar none.
Therefore £60+ for the tornado plus distraction kits etc against £95 plus blanks for the BFG is a complete no brainer for those able to get them

Tornados pale by the side of BFG's - but if you cant legally buy them i suppose thats the nearest you'll ever get - pity - they are missing out on some nice bangs!

(incidently - those with exiting BFG's will be able to use the same adaptors in the new VTG - tried them and they work) will have a video hopefully ready soon but not sure if i'm allowed to post it here as it could be construed as 'advertising' and i'm not sure you guys want to see it.

Yosser, feel free to tell me this is better fielded on the VTG facebook page, but as the retailers are offering a service facility, can they do things like timer adjustments? As I understand it the firing mech is controlled by a 'jet' or some sort of air flow restrictor that stops the firing pin from detonating the round as soon as the pin is released, would be nice if there was a way of setting the delay for a good 4 seconds.

RSM - slight delay on releasing the VTG as the timing needs to be tweeked to get 4 sec - i think currently running 3.5 - they do service existing BFG's as well - but i have no idea about the timings etc and how it all works - you could contact them about any work you need doing though

4 seconds? Really. Might as well use pyro. Or a hand written letter announcing your arrival.

RSM
A Dynatec BFG uses a vacuum timer, it's adjusted via an air nozzle internally that can be opened/closed to vary the air flow
However if it's detonating immediately then the o-ring seal is probably damaged.
Solution is to open it up, clean it, lube it. Put it back together.

One of the sites I visit has a guy that I believe services them for cheap. PM me if your struggling to find someone to do it.

4 secs believe me is much better (and safer) when using 12g - having had an old bfg Dyntech style detonate instantly in my hand i know what its like and its not nice - i think i'm very lucky to have kept my fingers! - but each to his own - initial outlay maybe expensive but over time a saving over pyro i think and you can still still sell it on when peeps decide to jack it in. Pays ya money takes ya choice.

My issue with the 12g arguement is that if the flash and concussion is enough to worry about making the fuse longer for the guy chucking it , we should also be concerned about it's intended victim (who it's likely to be right next to)

The old dynatecs were quite tasty with a 12g but the flash was directed away from the hand and most sites do not allow them anyway .
