Darn you KWA G36 feeding issues...

Hey guys, I have a Gen1 KWA g36 and I and did a complete overhaul on it,

It is being as stubborn as a mule with feeding. :angry22:

Shooting semi, .2s go about 50ft max. FPS is super slow and hopup doesnt seem to affect anything at all. They drop right away. Full will jam/ double feed/triple feed/drop bbs out of the barrel.

Heres what i got.

Gearbox

SHS torque motor

SHS 13:1

SHS 120 Spring

SHS Metal Delayer

Modify ported piston head

Modify piston (white)

16AWG Wiring

Stock KWA Cylinder

Stock KWA piston head

Stock KWA AR Latch

Stock KWA Spring guide

Hopup:

Lonex Hopup unit (Full metal it rocks, buy it if you can find it)

Madbull Red bucking

Angel h-Nub

Stock KWA 6.04

Anyway, ive been having terrible feeding issues, i have eliminated the following as suspects:

Mags: They are G&P mids that feed fine. KWA feeds fine also.

Hopup: It is letting the bbs feed in fine. I took off the magazine well to inspect and the bbs have space to enter the hopup chamber before being pushed by the nozzle. The bucking is in the correct space and is not inhibiting the bbs from feeding. The adjustment wheel/bucking and nub is also working good.

Delayer: It is pulling the gears back in time with space to spare

RoF: Refusing to feed on semi or full.

Bucking: Tried a G&P bucking (They are kinda ######, just wanted to see if the darn thing would feed) Works fine.

Barrel: BBs go through it fine. Its clean

Another thing that is troubling is that the FPS is not passing ~250fps (Not an exact number just my guess). Even if i feed 1 bb into the hopup chamber manually it doesn't help either. I am getting near perfect compression with the stock cylinder and upgraded o-rings. The Hop-up is functioning great

I'm beginning to think that its the nozzle. I have an SHS metal one, heard it works with the lonex unit..

The KWA nozzle is still in it, i have not tried the SHS aluminum nozzle yet.

Anyway the SHS nozzle looks different from the KWA one. Could it be the problem?

Talked to KWA tech support and they said that the cylinder heads are usually not compatible with aftermarket nozzles.

And an SHS nozzle:

Any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

Not sure how the KWA hop is connected to the outer barrel, but if it's anything like the TM style check the end of the outer barrel/gasblock and the hop unit. (assuming it's a twist and lock style connection) Had many a hop lug/gas block end break causing misfeeds and airseal issues.

I also uploaded a picture of the Lonex unit fitting with the magwell. It seems to fit perfectly, i dont think the magwell is causing any problems.

TM Nozzle vs SHS one. There is a difference on the top of the nozzle. helps it fit the tappet better

SHS nozzle vs Marui one. Notch on the top of the marui is what i think is causing the problems... I could be wrong

and lastly, the Lonex unit versus the old KWA one. I do not see any significant difference between them that would hinder feeding. Dimensions are almost exactly the same. They fit the nozzles very similarly.

Take the cylinder assembly out and check thus:

1) Place the nozzle on the cylinder head, then put your finger over the nozzle and push the piston into the cylinder quickly.

It should stop, not allowing you to move the piston. If not, there's an airseal issue.

Have you checked the length of the nozzle?

With the AEG fully assembled, shine a torch into the magwell and look at the nozzle through the feed tube. Fire a shot or two in semi and try and see how far back the nozzle goes, and how far forwards it goes into the hop-up unit.

If your nozzle is too long (perhaps because KWA *fruitcage*ed their tolerances), then you won't be feeding anything. Try using a shorter nozzle. I'd recommend ELEMENT plastic airseal nozzles, they're cheap and good, and plastic nozzles are less likely to bind in hop-up units or deform bbs.

Alright, so this is getting more confusing by the day.

The new SHS nozzle seals perfectly with the hopup, chamber it fixed a minor airleak in the cylinder/nozzle setup, BUT DEAR GOLLY IT WONT PASS 250FPS!

I tried the poor mans chrono, and it wont even pierce the side of a can (Must be below 280ish)

I tried loading a mag in the gun, removing the mag and then taking off the mag well and i found this:

After removing the extra bbs:

It seems that the reason its double feeding is because the nozzle goes too far back.

Should i replace the cylinder head with a longer G36 one?

Should i replace the nozzle with a different one?
