Oi geardoes! part 2

Righty ho then. Im hoping that this will solve the problem of geardoes speaking in seemingly another language to other airsofters. Basically ive tried my best to cover every abreviation or tradenames in common gear usage, no definitions yet. Please help me add to the list.

Normally pasive, in thatbthey don't use Infra-Red lamps to illuminate the area to the user's front, which is a huge disadvantage in the modern battlefield environment, modern NVG use very low light-capable componenets to amplify ambient light, presenting the resulting images to the user on a VERY small tv-like screen in the goggles.

Operations in Built-Up Areas. British Urban fighting doctrine, which supersceded FIBUA (which see).

PLCE -

Personal Load Carrying Equipment. Current standard of load carrying gear for British Armed Forces, replaced 58-pattern canvas webbing.

Peltor -

Manufacturers of ear defenders and aviation (and similar) audio headset equipment. Extensively used by Civilian and military alike.

RIS -

Rail Interface System. Another word for Picatinny; comprises a series of rails to allow the atachment of acessories on such things as assault rifles. Initially developed by the US Army for Special Forces usage, has extended to many other not-so-'elite' forces usage.

Search And Rescue

SARBE -

Search And Rescue BEacon - a radio carried by both Aircrew and certain Special Forces, used to call in SAR and other assets when required.

SAAV -

South African Assault Vest, commonly referring to the SA M-82 vest standard.

SUSAT -

Sight Unit, Small Arms, Trilux; Current British Army teeth Arms optical sight, used on L85 and L86 rifles. Replaced SUIT (which see)

SUIT -

Sight Unit, Infantry, Trilux. Old version of the SUSAT, used extensively by SLR Marksmen in Northern Ireland.

To keep things organised i thing every page or so Lance (and just him, to keep things tidy ;) ) should post up the current list including the latest additions made by other users, that way there is a coherent explanation for every abbreviation rather then several different explanations.

Danish camouflage, similar to Flecktarn (which see)

DPM -

Disruptive Pattern Material, the current British standard of camouflage clothing. Used by many other nations.

Optical sights manufacturer, used by Canadian Armed Forces. Generically used word to descrie the current somewhat large and heavy rubber-coated optical battle sight used on Canadian military Small Arms.

Flecktarn -

Current German camouflage pattern that in part inspired CADPAT (which see)
