Devgru finally came out with their version of the Swimmers Headset, the DEVGRU - Frogman Field Headset. Available in the US at AEX:

Here's a brief comparison to my Toy Soldier Swimmers Headset:

QUOTE ("www.digitalwastelands.com")
The Devgru version looks to be built better then the Toy Soldier version and has multiple radio connectors. The PTT unit of the Devgru headset is easier to operate and far more durably built the the TS version.

Perhaps a case of the real design not being the best then tongue.gif
I must say I have been pondering a decent mic / headset type setup for a while now, and these look pretty spot on for what I'd like. I'd like to say I'd get one in the Uk when they appear but given the price tag it probably won't happen.

An import may again be on the cards biggrin.gif

It's replicated it with a toy quality part. Although mine still works it feels like it would be the first thing that would break. While visually it looks like a toggle switch, it's really a simple pressure switch. The Devgru PTT is much easier to use esp with gloves and is more durable.

Would I have to purchase the radio connector seperately?

Yes, you need to buy the connectors seperatley.

It's not waterproof. It's a replica of the Selex TASC1 Headset, but I don't think these were built for water operations like TASC1. The connector to the radio and the radio will keep you from submerging more then the headset though. Sound clarity is good. better then the Toy Soldier version since the windscreen is a bit beefier. Nice part with Devgru setup is spare parts are available to replace everything in the setup.

I have the throat mic and the thing I hated most about the setup next to the fact that the PTT was not a quick-disconnect was the fact that the PTT tended to stick.

Otherwise, great MIC setup.

Where do you get mic connectors? I'll be using a Motorola Talkabout, if it helps. smile.gif

Also: are there any ways to modify the earcup for increased peripheral hearing or comfort?

Yeah quality wise it is. It's modular with replaceable parts if needed. Plus the added features of the Devgru make it seem liek a more serious product.

I wore mine all afternnon at work, much more comfortable then the TS version.
