I really like those AK-74U's with the Romanian stocks. Are there any Romanian stocks that fit a Cyma aks74u?

Not really no. You could get a Kingarms AK-74 receiver and a AIMS TM compatible receiver methinks. As far as I know, the Cyma front end and battery tray and all are TM compatible.

scotch brite pads. they weather slowly so you can get the right amount of wear easier. go over the whole thing, but try to make sure that edges and parts that stick out get the heaviest wear (the SB pads will already do this to some degree, e.g. when weathering the reciever the rivets etc will get a lot more wear). you could experiment with rusting as well using some salt water, but if you ever skirmish it in the rain you will probably notice some of the more weathered bare bits of metal will have spots of rust on them by the next day.

i'd also re finish the wood. simply because i'm not keen on the bright orange chinese wood, i'd knock it about a bit and restain it a darker red colour more like russian wood. i'd also strip the paint off of the bolt and Polish it, as IMO shiny bolts look nicer than the odd flat silver finish.

if you wanted it to look like some sort of african rebel AK you could always carve patterns into the handguards/grips as well. or wrap cloth or string all around the buttplate to make some sort of grippy padding. just random little aesthetic or practical additions like this can help add to the rebel look.

About weathering a RS-56:

use it. Use it really hard - sit on it, use it as a shovel, knock down doors with it, leave it lying on the ground when you are sleeping. It is so god damn tough it will stand up to all of it, and when you look at it in 6 months you will see memories of all the time you used it.

Real wear and tear beats all home-made bs.

not necessarily, you will never be able to replicate the kind of wear from days and days of carrying the gun on patrol etc simply by skirmishing. i say artificially do all of the wear from rubbing on clothes etc and then let all of the bumps and scratches appear naturally though use and abuse.

my AKSU has plenty of skirmish wear on it, it's even got to the stage where a couple of corners are starting to wear down nicely simply due to rubbing on things, but it still looks nothing like a heavily used RS.

Thanks, Snow. It took cutting quite a bit off, length wise, because it was obviously a standard length handguard, as opposed to the shorter 74U one.

Then it was just a matter of dremeling here and there until it fit. It's real solid on there now.

Cheers!
