Most of the custom drum mags that people make for thompsons are in the low thousands (2-3k)

O dear, i'd just be happy with 600, one drum for the entire day :)

Will have to see if this 460rd mags can be modded to take a few more :D

anyway, Do we know who the original maker of this is ?

Far as i know Cyber gun do not make their own and the only two companys that i know of that make Thompsons are TM and Cyma, and Cyma have lost the molds for the Thompson and had no intention to make them again ( going by sources in china / hk )

Still seems like they missed the boat with this, it's not a proper M1928 but it's close......

Ok, I got mine today, here it is.

A quick view of the instructions:

And now for the gun:

And the drum magazine:

Notice that the magazine is only 450 rounds, strange for a drum mag, but it does work very nicely. The gun itself is nice and heavy, and the furniture although plastic does have a very nice wood look to it. It is a little bit hot out the box, chronoing at about 370fps using 0.2 bbs (not the 0.12 as boasted on the lid!). The gun lacks the thompson bullet logo on the gun itself, which I thought was strange as I was sure that it should have it at the rear, but I could be wrong. I does however have it on the drum mag. The drum mag slides up into the gun, rather than sideways on, so the sticky mags should also work fine in it, but I didnt have any to try. It also has one of my personal hates on the side where it says calibre 6mm (I would like it to say .45mm or just leave it blank). The battery is nice and easy to fit in, although with the use of a hacksaw or dremmel much material can be removed from the stock to allow a bigger battery to fit with ease. The selectors all work fine and the gun has a nice heavy solid feel to it and is a joy to use. I do not know exactly what to look for to see if the gun is made by CYMA, but have been told it is, and it performs well as per any CYMA that I have used, and the packaging does have 051 stamped in it, which to me seems like a CYMA product number, but it could just as easily be a random number. If someone knows exactly what to look for then I will look, but I am not about to open it up just yet to see if it says so on the gearbox.

It's the exact same CYMA M1A1 that's been around for years. They've just stuck an ACM front end on and made a drum mag for. I wouldn't waste time on a review.

Cybergun hold the Thompson (and many other licenses) so gun + trades = Cyber, gun - trades = Cyma.

The drum mag is nice, though but 450rds? Some people need to learn to shoot straight if that's not enough.

The drum mag is supose to be a hicap, consider we have 600rd AK mags then i expect a drum to at least match that.

This is a SMG not a assult rifle, it's ment to be spray and pray, nothing to do with shooting straight.

I would wast my time on a review, who knows whats changed, last i heard Cyma had lost the moulds but this is supose to be a Cyma so who knows

I personally couldnt care less if the drum mag only held 50 rounds, but the sticky mags also hold about 450 rounds, and a c mag will hold what, 1000 rounds, maybe more. I just felt that for a drum mag, especially of this size, 450 rounds seemed to be not very much. I would guess that it is probably only the top part that holds the rounds, and it just winds from the middle like a normal high cap, leaving the bottom part pretty much empty. I am sure that with a little tinkering about this could hold much more than 450.

It feels pretty solid, but it is just monkey metal, so I wouldnt be too surprised if it snaps at the back of the foregrip eventually, so if it does then I will get a metal plate made up to replace it.

I think there's already a plate available but I can't remember who makes it.
