Hudabon
Thanks for the links man, a bit pricey(almost as much as the gun) but I'm actually very interested in the 1911 grip they sell, it looks promising and isnt nearly as expensive as the Sig Sauer types the sell(unfortuantely now Im buying another 1911 grip rather than a P226 one it looks like). Thanks again.
Smurf
I have finally got around to fitting the replacement mainspring seats which I ordered from the states. I have had them for a couple of weeks but have been too busy to modify and fit them. Here is a pic of the plastic real steel mainspring seat: As you can see there is not much too it, but for it to work with our airsoft versions we need to modify it slightly. At first I thought I would just have to extend the hole in which the mainspring guide sits in down through the first plastic rib which you can see in the photo. After doing this on a pillar drill and testing it I realised that the spring guide naturally wants to come further forward than the hole I drilled for it when the hammer is being cocked. I then resorted to removing the reinforcing rib all together with my trusty dremel and tested it once again, this time it worked perfectly! Here is a picture of the modified mainspring seat: Here are a couple of before and after shots with the standard mainspring seat and the new mainspring seat fitted into one of my Siggs: The only main advantage to fitting this replacement mainspring seat is if you own a pair of Hogue grips, it will allow a much easier fitting of them with a lot less material removal, it does also make the fitting of the stock real steel grips easy peasy too. A point worth noting is that when you have the modified main spring seat installed, you cannot put the TM grips back on due to one of the metal grip pins getting in the way. Also with my order for the mainspring seats I purchased a set of real steel stock grips for the P226. These are still waiting to be fitted, but all I need to do to them is widen the grip screw holes slightly, I should hopefully get that done later today or tomorrow. Here is a pic of the right hand grips with the TM one on the left and the real steel on the right:
