Available now at WGC ( * search for "Proud M4K")

Available in either 14mm CW or a 14mm CCW threading.

Originally, these had VLTOR trademarks on them. I was concerned that they didn't get the contract settled with VLTOR whom they were hoping to license it (as they are the makers of the real steel version). Early prototype pics at the ProudTactical website clearly showed the trademarks on them. Weeks ago, I asked when they would be available and Proud said that they were waiting to get the legal matters finaled with VLTOR but that they should be released soon. Weeks go by and I emailed them again last night. I guess at that very same moment WGC updated their website to show they now had the M4K in stock, however, as you can see from the above pics, there doesn't appear to be trademarks on them. I inquired with PROUD:
QUOTE
Does this still have the VLTOR trademarks?  They seem to be missing from the ones on WGCshop.com

And they wrote back:
QUOTE
yes, but the engraving is covered by marker pen, can be remove by a cloth :-)

So apparently the trademarks are still there. It appears they mass produced all of the first run of the M4K Flashhiders prior to getting the licensing agreement with VLTOR. Chances are VLTOR agreed, except with the caveat that the cut VLTOR receives was probably really high: For example, the VLTOR M4 receiver is actually produced by G&P and is sold as a licensed product by VLTOR. The G&P receivers normally cost US$100, however in order for G&P to make any money off the VLTOR licensed receiver, they had to jack up the price to US$195 to cover licensing costs. Because PROUD already made the flashhiders, they covered up the trademark engraving "with a marker pen". I'm a little skeptical as to how easy it will be to remove this concealment "by a cloth". We'll soon see as I have one on the way. I just hope WGC doesn't do anything else to the trademarks as they are notorious for attacking trademarks with dremels.

As for what the RS M4K was made to go on:

More info to come once I receive the flash hider. wink.gif

That flashhider looks really sharp.
I love that M4 too.
A few months back at an industry meeting (ASGK), Tokyo Marui anounced their new product....toy trains. They anounced their weapon and gun intrests will become secondary to other pursuits.

In a couple of years these will be used on skirmish sites as BB supply systems. CYMA will make a copy that is 1/3 of the price and everyone will complain that "the newbies will all have them!!!". Meanwhile, CA will make the same design with fifteen variations of transport carts, all with Armalite trademarks, and have the cabs made out of cast zinc. G&G will detail the externals, but forget to put the engine in, while G&P will be the best for the price but largely ignored. VFC will make the train that everyone has been asking for, but when it comes out we'll all say it's too expensive. UTG will sell the CYMA trains, but half the community will claim that the engines are different.

That AR is hawt.

I think I shall build one using an A&K as a basis... next is to buy a metal A4-type reciever, CASV front set, M203, folding front sight (or just a gas end bloc and the H&K-type RIS-mounted sights)... I'll probably use either a Crane-type stock or a Magpul CTR and a Magpul MIAD, though, rather than the ones seen on that 'un.

I'm sorry but ever since I saw the M4K upper receiver for real AR-15's I have called this the flower-power flashhider. You can see what I mean if you look at the front. tongue.gif

Well to each his own. wink.gif Personally, this has been one accessory that I've been wanting and waiting for a very long time for. And you gotta admit, that M4K AR is pretty HOT!

That's exactly what I'm doing with mine. But there are no 12.5" barrels out there. Personally, I was thinking that I would buy a 14.5" outer barrel, cut off the front 2 inches, lathe down the front 1cm on outer barrel's tip and tap a 1mm thread on there. 14mm CCW dies aren't commonly available, so I'll probably have to buy another M4K flashhider but in CW threading. sad.gif Did you have any ideas about this?

I'd just hope that Proud would make a replica of the barrel to go with the flash hider... custom milling seems like it would be an extraordinary amount of effort, though I'll look into seeing if someone can mass produce these custom barrels.

Well that upper receiver and handguard is a one piece CNC unit. I'd be really surprised if any manufacturers made one. If they did... I'd buy it.

In the meantime, I'm on my way to making my own version of it:

I should have the barrel cut down to a 12.5" length by next week, and by then I should also have the M4K flashhider too.

Just received the PROUD M4K flashhider:

Just before WGC sent it, they emailed me that the flashhider did not have trademarks and they wanted to know if I still wished to purchase it. I pointed out to them that I had contacted PROUD and they had confirmed that the trades were still there, just covered by a black marker. They rechecked and confirmed I was correct. Well the M4K F/H arrived today and using some of the GF's nail polish remover and quite a bit of elbow grease, I was able to remove the black permanent marker (I tend to use nail polish remover rather than straight acetone as it's less aggressive) and restored the original finish.

Here it is installed:

One step closer to making my version of the M4K. Next step will be getting my 12.5" barrel back from the machinist and my G&P short M203. smile.gif I'll update this thread one last time when I get the rifle complete.
