Mods, could someone move this to the duplicate area please?
And yes, I'm entirely sure not everyone has seen it yet, but I fear that could lead to other topics being posted multiple times as well, flooding the news section with redundancy...

Anyways, even the 51x series is night-vision compatible if you tone down the brightness far enough (the NV-Button on the 55x series is just a shortcut button to do just that), so the difference won't be even a third as the 51x is about 70 USD cheaper than the 55x. And that one isn't much more expensive than the replica - at least not on Evike.

Not exactly... The 55X series has two lasers in it - one visible, one IR. When you press the NV button it switches between the two. And yes, you can use a 51x series on it's lowest setting with NODs, but the recticle is still a bit fuzzy (you get some "splash" or "ghosting" from the brighter visible laser). When you change to the NV setting on the 55x series, the recticle is just as clear through NODs as the regular recticle is when viewed with the naked eye.

mrk, watch your back dude, Chris Costa's beard is going to come and get you, I imagine in a similar way that Chuck Norris' might, and when it's done with you, Matt Johnson is going to make you a 750D Cordura bodybag (it's innovatively better than 500D and 1000D, naturally), in a khaki colour that's not quite green, not quite tan, not quite khaki. With grey trim, of course.
In need of a DPM General Ops Vest. If you've got one, let me know

This one has been discussed to death both on Wannabe and the Lightfighter forums, but noone has yet come up with proof of any version.
So perhaps it will remain a myth. I'd go with a 55x anyday, because I'm not so sure either and wouldn't want to ruin my NVG in the long run by using something less than optimal with it.

Well, while I can't provide definitive proof, that was what I was told by EOTech reps when I asked about this at a SHOT Show a few years back. (May have just been marketing hype, but all I know for sure is there is a definite difference between the "visible" and "NV" reticles when view through NODs - even on the lowest settings for each).
It would also explain why only the NV models have LE/.mil restricted markings. (In the US, IR lasers are a restricted use item and are usually limited to governmental sales or other controlled uses.)
Of course, this is all beside the point... As it has zero bearing on the replica battery holder (which I, personally, think is a rather nifty alternative to the over-used PAQ/PEQ battery cases).
