It seems that retailers are no longer carrying Phantom's CIRAS line!

Mysteriously, shortly after announcing the new Multicam version of the Phantom CIRAS, Redwolf has removed all references from their site. I emailed them asking whether the Phantom CIRAS was no longer available and I got a response of:

"Yes, you are correct!"

Other retailers (1337tactical.com- based in Canada) also have removed the product from their site and Ebay. sad.gif

QUOTE (Headhunter3 @ Mar 20 2007, 10:17 PM)

Hahaha, you can always count on Krist at AA when the chips are down. Wish I had the money for a CIRAS now with this sudden disappearance sad.gif

I have a sinking suspicion that Eagle is behind this, which means we may not see a replica CIRAS for a while if not ever. I don't see the CIRAS on any websites, and that goes for PROUD's version as well!

Is it possible that Eagle may have trademarked the CIRAS name? I saw Redwolf still had plate cariers and RAVs by phantom available, so it must be strictly someting in the CIRAS name. If so, Phantom may still be able to sell the Vest under a different name. I don't know that much about copywrite law though. Hopefully they will find a way of getting the replica CIRAS vests back on the market.

I email Kastway Airsoft and asked about ordering on and this is what I got back:

"We no longer sell the vest due to it being very similar to the Eagle vest."

I just ordered one form Ehobby a few days ago.

Here is another one that I found on ebay:

Eagle has patents on a lot of the features of the vest as well, so simply changing the name would not help. It's like the Glock trigger safety: If it's there, it doesn't matter what you call it. That's why KWA Glocks in the US don't have the trigger safety feature.

There's a fair amount a US based company can do to get an online store to C&D from selling copyrighted items, but no where near as much when it comes to physical stores based in foreign countries. They may be taken off the online stores but I'd be really surprised if they stopped selling them in their actual physical stores in HK. Over the years, the HK government has been pretty strict about pirated software and movies, but replicas of copyrighted items like this tend to be off their radar. For the most part, Eagle is probably more concerned about the HK sellers selling the replicas to people outside of HK than they are to HK nationals.

Oh no, the cat's out of the bag now, the national security of every country in the Western world has been compromised because we all now know exactly what super secret armour carrier is used by a civilian shooting instructor who works for a company which founded itself as an alternative to paracord and duct tape.

mrk, watch your back dude, Chris Costa's beard is going to come and get you, I imagine in a similar way that Chuck Norris' might, and when it's done with you, Matt Johnson is going to make you a 750D Cordura bodybag (it's innovatively better than 500D and 1000D, naturally), in a khaki colour that's not quite green, not quite tan, not quite khaki. With grey trim, of course.

Just when they were gonna release the multicam one, too.
LINK

That's gotta be a big hit to their $$$ after aquiring materials and labor, R&D, advertising, etc. OUCH.

On a side note I noticed redwolf had on the product page "does not come with the phantom label", maybe they actually reproduced the eagle label (bad move) and got pinched.

Edit: added link

I'm not a big kit person, I don't dress myself to any particular uniform but I was actually looking at these Phantom CIRAS' as something I'd like to buy. Now they've been magic'd away like they never existed - no word or mention of it on WGC and Redwolf.

I can only assume some legal action has affected Phantom and these products have been yanked but it'd be nice to actually be told dry.gif

I still have the one I was going to get bookmarked from Redwolf: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airs...il?prodID=20382 I would have thought I was loosing my mind if it wasn't for this thread and that bookmark mad.gif

People like ehobbyasia will still have some if you contact them. They mightn't be breaking their countries law by selling them & you wont be breaking our laws by buying them,if in doubt email & ask?
