Noxman
Hey everyone It's probably just the fever of playing it recently but the gear in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl (the PC game) has really gotten me excited. It's the main stalker suits that I like the most, the more dreadnought type gear is a little unrealistic to get together for airsofting but the more usual body armour and rebreather/gas masks seem quite feasable. I was wondering if anyone had any specific ideas as to what body armour or various other pieces of gear (coats, trousers etc) would go with the whole stalker look. I was looking at the Guarder S.D.U. Tactical Vest Level 4 (http://www.wargameclub.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=GD-CG-V12C_cat_Vests) which with the right hood and a gas mask I think could go quite well. Does anyone else have any suggestions, I would really appreciate them Cheers Nox
MagicalNinjaBuddy
I was actually thinking about this when I was playing. I was thinking simpler, with just a smock, jeans, and a balaclava. Then I wondered if I could fit magazine pouches in a smock pocket. Then I gave up on it.
Mike_West
Do I remember correctly that Stalker has a telnyashka under his smock?
MagicalNinjaBuddy
He had a green sweater.
maxrezn
http://www.razorfine.com/images/uploads/ni...ner_capsule.jpg Seems like you need a warm hat and a beard.

Noxman
I have absolutely no idea who that is maxrezn Yeah I was thinking just the basic coat and balaclava but unless it was a theme day or something I reckon you would end up just looking like a terrorist. I'm going for the more distinguishable look with a gas mask and the amoured vest. I had a look around and the guarder one that I linked to seems to be the vest that most resembles the kind of stalker body armour seen in the game. I might look into a rebreather, but that might be a little dodgy needing an air tank. Wouldn't really want to roll onto my back with one on. Has anyone seen any half face gas masks, the ones that cover the mouth and nose only. With one of those I wouldn't have to worry about getting airsoft safe lenses. Cheers Nox
Kingmob3
I assume by re breather you'r referring to something like what fire fighters wear and not a diving re breather? One of those runs $4K++. If you're going for the half mask try getting a painting respirator that has side mounted cart rages like this: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.j...hId=20895993442 KM
Ubar
one of the above masks with vacuum type tube disappearing into a box/pouch/pack would look right, if painted up appropriatley.
DanDan
Fellow S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan here! Cool thread, Nox. Because I'm pretty much skint, my thinking for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. loadout would be this: A German army parka, like this ,with the flags picked off and the hood up. A jumper along these lines, a Chinese AK chest rig worn under the parka, some well worn blue jeans, some decent boots, a gas mask, balaclava or respirator of some kind and an AK-74su. Oh, and maybe a black rucksack of some kind. Not trying to replicate exactly what you might see in the game... But a pretty authentic loadout I think...
Gor
I think any kind of suitably tacked together paramilitary/survival gear..depending of course if you're a neutral/duty/freedom/monolith or neutral guy Of course soviet/post soviet weaponary is the way to go. Krinkov's 4tw!!
Gor
blah dp..
MagicalNinjaBuddy
Pfft. The MP5 is so effective in close quarters. I haven't played in a few weeks, though.
Noxman
Hey DanDan thanks The things like a coat and the various odd bits were the parts I was unsure about. That coat is perfect ^^ although I might go for something with a hood because the neck bits on that one wouldn't go so nicely with the body armour I would like For ease of usage, and my precious field of vision ^^, im going to go for a half face gas mask. You can get plenty of cheap ones that look the job like http://www.allergybegone.com/3m7502.html or http://www.protecdirect.co.uk/Product.asp?...+Cost+Half+Mask Its tempting to go for a full face mask when you can get things like http://www.protecdirect.co.uk/Product.asp?...Face+Respirator But its a little pricey for airsofting especially when put next to a tenner for the half face ones. I was looking at AKSU's but I got an LR300 in the game and my eyes have been set on one ever since. http://www.airsoftwarehouse.co.uk/acatalog/info_600806.html Its so purty ^^ With that gun and the body armour in my first post, I think i've ended up leaning more towards Duty, which i'm not complaining about ^^. Now if only I could find some of that Master Stalker dreadnought armour, that'll scare the noobs at my airsoft site Cheers Nox
hardboiledcop
If you're gonna go for a gas-mask, go for something like the one below.. this image is based on the weakest suit in the game.. but I think the effect is quite powerful. Search ebay for gas masks and you can get all manner of old masks for next to nothing.

Angry
I don't know what game you're playing, but I've not found a ppsh yet. On the other hand LR300s and G36s are all over the place in the later maps.
BakaBox
An AS Val would be awesome. Might be hard to make though. (Silenced) SA80, F2000, Sig 550... there's quite a few rifles to choose from.
hardboiledcop
The PPSH is a fully automatic silenced rifle, uses the same ammo as the guns carried by most of the duty crew, and is carried by most of the Monolith soldiers, it is by far the best gun in the entire game, excluding the F2000 because you can only get hold of that once you're inside the powerplant (unless it's hidden somewhere else, but I haven't found it yet)

In any rate, it's still the best gun apart from the sniper version..
Angry
Bit of a problem with the silenced weapon tho surely? What is its real life equivalent? And surely there'd have to be an airsoft version in order for someone to be able to use it with a loadout?
Skarclaw
Real life equivalent is the VSS Vintorez, there is no airsoft version save for a few custom jobs.
