aargh, i went all : OMG WTF ! when i read the title, only to discover i already knew about this, but had dismissed it as puchaseworthy, because of the 8mm bit and it beeing marushin...
however seeing it again .... it says it will come in 6 mm aswell
having not owned any marushin guns, i wonder if they are any good.

Anyway, despite the fact a 6mil version is on the way, I don't think I'm intrested still because, er... it's too blowy. Yes. It sounds like it's going to blow back too much because the.. beecher sprocket lock valve... in the 8 and 6mil versions are identical so the amounts of gas used will... be the same, which is too much for a 6mil BB meaning it empties the gas faster.

Who cares if a gun is ugly though? If it gets the job done, it gets the job done. And also horrifies the enemy. Result!

why did they make the ugliest 5-7 possible? some of the other ones arent that bad looking

Well, I guess once I've bought this and an F2000 I'm just about done buying airsoft guns.

There will be genuinely nothing left out there that interests me sufficiently to make me want to buy it.

Regarding the way it looks, I reckon FN have mangled the original gun. The first version of the 5-7 was the best looking. Every time they've updated it with extra levers or tacticool rails it ends up looking worse and worse.

I want one because of its significance as a pistol that fires a "rifle" round rather than due to how funky it looks.
I might deliberately get the 8mm one. Or both.

Incidentally, The 5-7 is a pistol that fires the same bullet as the P90 PDW.
By comparison, HK have the MP7 PDW and, if you want a truly ugly pistol, go look at the HK UCP.
It's utterly devoid of style. It looks like a Daisy air pistol!

Your best bet is to do a google image seach for "five seven".

The first version was definately "quirky" but it had no levers at all (not even a slide lock) and could, at least, call itself "innovative".
Then, in order to sell to the USA, FN were forced to put 1911-style levers on it to make the yanks feel at home.
Then they just tossed out the original concept completely and nailed the lego to the front of it and tried to make it look "badass".

Like I say, I much prefer the first version but I'll take what I can get for airsoft.

True - I'd really love a G17 with the finger groves, but no rail.

Hopefully someone will make a frame for the TM or something.

ICK! There is no pistol in existence that looks better with a rail than wihout one, and the 5-7 is no exception to this. Seriously, what's with the half dozen rail grooves on it? The only thing you'd mount is a flashlight or laser, which only require 1, and it's not like changing its location by an inch is going to make any kind of difference. If they completely left out the rails, it'd look like a modernized P38 sort of and would actually look okay. Right now it looks like the pistol equivalent of the lovechild of a SCAR and a Ruger MP9.

I'll agree that the H&K UCP is ugly, but atleast the "newer" version not as bad as the prototype
