Don't know if this is news, used the search feature but didn't find anything

Interesting concept, but do they really work? I'm no chemist or anything but how would "powdered silicon" lubricate a barrel?

I remember seeing this on the MAA boards. Most people thought it wouldn't work, but who knows? Looks interesting. Frankly, I'd rather just put a shot of silicone from a $5 bottle in there every 3000 shots, but to each his own. You'd think the cleaning stuff would add a substantial amount of weight, making me wonder exactly how these are made.

probably the excact same way regular silicon lubes the barrel..

I doubt this would work though, plus wouldnt the hop up get messed up from so much oil in it?

Well...
I'll stick to my silicone oil, cleaning rod, and micro fiber cloth. It takes me 30 seconds to get a shining clean. It is not so much of a hassle I think I would switch to cleaning BBs.

I would say that keeping a barrel completely free of all materiels besides BB's is the way to go, theres no need for silicone or any lube if you have a good barrel and good BB's... but this powdered BB stuff does seem like *intresting* idea for people like support gunners who fire a lot more in between cleanings and don't really bother with high accuracy.
That is, if the stuff really keeps barrels clean.
Wait! We can't stop here, this is bat country!

Seems like they would not work too well, and here's why:

If the BB cleans the barrel, it must have uniform and at least somewhat solid contact with the barrel. That means these have to be bigger than ordinary BBs, as ordinary BBs are not really supposed to contact the barrel, but ride a thin cushion of air. So, if these are oversized, it's going to be jam city. If they are the same size, I really don't think that they will work as advertised.

Also, I bet this "powdered silicone base" would get eroded away by the rest of the ammo that the tune up BBs are mixed with.

If they work, great, I guess... but TLC and proper cleaning will make a gun last longer IMO.
Face it: someday you'll have to grow up, learn to shoot a gun, and start killing zombies.

The reason you clean the barrel with scilicon is because scilicon lube ATTRACTS dust and dirt. So when you swab the barrel mout with it, it takes away all the dirt with it. Putting more oil in your barrel is actualy counter-productive. I can't imagine what a powder in your barrel dosen't sound like a good idea either. Plus, regular BBs usualy have a tiny bit of scilicon on them anyways. Fail.

But you have four posts and sound like a paid sales monkey. Any proof that they polish the barrel? Controlled tests? pictures, at least?

His four posts don't make him any more full of *beep* than someone with a thousand posts.

Still, your word doesn't mean much without anything to back it up.

Even with these bbs, there are still places that could get gunked up and would need cleaning with a rod and a patch.
It's not a bad idea though.
