Does anyone know where to get the mounts that let you flip the magnifier to one side tongue.gif

I wonder if we'll get a clone mount now that we've got a sight to put in it?

EDIT: Damn it looks like that one is aimpoint specific......GG&G it is then...

Good find! Alternatively, you can find quick release mounts for a lot cheaper. It may not have the gucci factor of the side flip one, but gets the job done.

I don't suppose it was meant as a replica of the x3 but i called it an Aimpoint Magnifier because that's what they put it behind in the photos smile.gif

If find it odd that the magnifier is placed between the eye and the aimpoint. Surely that will magnify the dot as well as the image, so resulting in a enlarged dot? I'd have thought it'd be better off in front of the aimpoint, giving you an enlarged image but maintaining the size of the dot.

but then the dot would be relative to the light that's been bent through the magnifier, rather than light coming directly from the object?

I also found that laRue make a mount that would fit this. Again mega $$$ sad.gif

I can't think that much 'bending' would occur and that it'd make very much difference anyway at the ranges airsofters would be using it at.

Placing the magnifier in front of the aimpoint would result in paralax error, since the dot's zero would most likely not be correctly alligned with the optical center of the magnifier. That would result in a difference in zero between "with" and "without" the magnifier, loosing the point of having the dual short/long range aiming capacity. And that loss in accuracy would have an impact even with airsoft's accuracy and range.

You'd also most probably have eye relief problems.

For the dot size, I'm not sure, never read any complaints about that on RS forums with the Aimpoint Magnifier. I suspect that the dot wouldn't be affected too much, since it is a focused light beam, but don't quote me on that, I have no expertise in optics or experience in the matter.
The Aimpoint model is funnily often pictured with an EOTech.

I think there are no complaints with RS aimpoint users because their dots are 2moa. You might be a little annoyed with the 4moa airsoft replicas, but then again with the accuracy of BBs magnified 4moa might not be all that bad at all.

there is no reason you can't use the aimpoint magnifier for the Eotech! Actually that's what i have in mind smile.gif

The dot is 2MOA before magnifying then with the magnifier the picture is bigger but so is the dot so the dot is still 2MOA.
That's why.

You got a point here.

And tome, I didn't say that it shouldn't work with EOTech, just that it was often shown with it, even in Aimpoint documentation IIRC!

Obviously. But its still a rather large red dot instead of a small red dot and its still going to take up more space in the viewfinder.

I take on board what's been said about paralax smile.gif

Ha that's hilarious! Eotech must be paying Aimpoint for the advertising smile.gif

as said, good point about the view being magnified as well as the dot.

I have a getto aimpoint magnifier system (2.5x optical sight from a panzerfaust-3 on an arms lever release mount) and havent noted the dot getting that much larger, using an clone aimpoint, which i assume is 4moa.
