Makes buying the Army an even MORE sensible option, now you can replace the parts that are most likely to break for a very reasonable cost!

now all we need is a farking SUSAT that fits either or and we're good to go. I'm strongly considering the Army, it looks really nice from what ive seen. christ even a freaking rail for a site would be nice too.

Do you mean a rail to mount an optical sight on? The army has a 20mm rail on top so uit fits most optics available.

The rail found on the SA80 series is a plain dovetail and therefore it will not accept most military optics without the use of an adapter as in the main they use Picatinny rails.

Should be easy enough to cut a notch or two in the ARMY rail mind.

No the Picatinny rail is not a dove tail profile, it is a <> when looked at end on, so cutting notches into an SA80 rail will still not allow Picatinny railed sights to fit without some type of adapter.

I'm sure there's a number of people who have put normal sights onto the L85 rail.

I've seen acogs on it and read a few more posts without pictures saying they've put acogs on it.

Not read about any other types being used though.

And even if the profile is wrong, just means you have to sand the corners aswell.

You can fit most picatinny compatible sights/scopes on an L85 rail. There are only a very few which don't have enough range in the clamp that won't work.

You can't fit the Star SUSAT on the stock G&G L85 rail (dunno about the Army one) cos the rail is fractionally too wide and only the centre part of the SUSAT is a clamp. The end parts are just guides that are sized exactly to fit the Star rail.
That's why you need to file down the underside of the V-grooves in the G&G rail slightly.
It's not so the clamp will fit. It's so that the guides will fit over it.

Assuming you don't mind paying for real optics then this site has a load of Russian stuff that come in Dovetail?

*shrugs* I didn't even know the ARMY SA80 came with a rail period. I thought it came with just the carry handle and front site tower. Woops. My bad.

The piston pic is a bit unclear. Does it have the second tooth or not? Because the piston durability doesn't make any difference if the sector gear engages it prematurely.

I just saw the G&G replacement piston that comes standard with their L85A2. The second tooth has been removed.

My friend's Army Armament L85 Tappet tappet plate has broken, and I can't find a replacement. Any idea where I could find one? The links above don't work.
