Well, isn't Dboy and Boyi the same basic company?

Too true - I have an SPR. RIS, barrel and body wobble abounds. Motor needed replacing out of the box.

Avoid!

This version of the SPR has a long rail running from the back of the receiver all the way up to the front sight, I guess that will make it less wobbly.

Even so - dont touch it with a bargepole. Im glad I bought the BI-5281 because I have the ability to sort its problems so I can inform others.

RIS unit ram fitted onto barrel nut and came loose - fixed for now with superglue.
Motor utter ###### - replaced immediately.
Hop rubber tore with less than 4000 rounds through it - replaced rubber and misshaped lump of rubber pretending to be the nub.
Barrel wobble because barrel nut kept coming loose - replaced body with a CA.
SEVERE body rock - see above.
Horrid stock that was splitting open along the seam - replaced stock with a DBoys Crane

So...pays ya money, takes ya choice.

I think what it comes down to is knowing that it requires tinkering out of the box

I may get it for a project gun myself.

Read my above post...almost NOTHING is usable.

Project gun? Only if your project is to see how much of a gun you need to replace to make it usable.

Yup, you get what you pay for. If I saved up all the money I spent on cheap, crappy AEG's, I would have a few reliable, nice guns...

Now is this one going to be better than the D-Boys M4 SD CQB?

As from what little info i can find on that one it seems very hit and miss to wether you get a goodun or not. But if you do get a goodun, they are very good?

Or have i misheard? There do seem to be so many 'new' D-Boys rifles that i'm losing track.

there are reviews of both the dboys metal m4 and metal SD, they are both good reports. I also loved my dboys SD before I parted it out for other projects. guzzi, I think you got a lemon.

I know this is only a tiny sample and can hardly be seen as representative, but anyway...

I recently bought a DBoys SIR for my M4 and was very happy with it. I also bought a set of whizzy (and cheap) sights for the gun at the same time.
For some reason, I received 2 sets of sights. Maybe one set came with the SIR. There's nothing to suggest they should have but, whatever. I received 2 sets of front and rear flip-up sights.

I recall Guzzi' saying that the DBoys flip-up rear sight was a bit wobbly and cheap. I noticed something similar with one of my flip-up rear sights too. The other one, however, was altogether more solid and less wobbly.
Same sort of thing with the front sights too.

I guess DBoys DO have some pretty major QC issues.

Off-hand, I'd say you're OK to buy anything DBoys make that's plastic (My SIR and Crane stock are terrific!) but you should probably be wary of anything metal.

Yeah, oddly the one I had that was wobbly was a part on its own. The one that came with the SPR was about the only good quality bit of the gun! I agree that the front sight on the SPR was also good, even if it is an odd fixing method.

My BIM4 is OK, well built and solid. Bit of a bitch to disassemble but thats a minor thing. Oh, and the piston on the BIM4 disintegrated as soon as I put a 130 spring in...

What does sort of dismay me is that I did a big review of the SPR and all its problems, plus posting elsewhere that it was pathetic...and yet people are still saying "ah well, im gonna get one anyway...". Im trying to warn folks and it seems that Im largely wasting my time.

Having said that, Id appreciate it if anyone who buys one of these and finds they have the same faults as I have, would PM me or something to tell me I was right wink.gif

Are we therefore assuming that the Chinese companies making these lower priced AEGs aren't improving and learning from previous models' faults?

Best wait for a review on this new model before passing judgement is my humble advice.
