Another one that has airsoft in its sights to obliterate:

Bill Introduced in US Congress To Ban Any Toy That Resembles a Real Handgun

"US airsoft forums are abuzz on the introduction Bill HR 428 IH (Introduced in the House) in the 110th US Congress "To require the Consumer Product Safety Commission to ban toys which in size, shape, or overall appearance resemble real handguns" which is filed by Mr. Edolphus Towns of the 10th District of New York (Brooklyn)"

Yeah its old, but he has those co sponsors so we need to write letters or email them or something. Besides doing this already for your congressman. I doubt anything will happen but if we pester them enough the first time around then they might give it up. Even little plastic toys from department stores and i bet those little paintball markers fall under the bill.

Might not succeed, but who knows? But you US-based guys have a powerful pro-gun lobby, which I think is the National Rifle Association. Is that correct?

It does amuse me, trying to ban replica's in the US when you can walk into a pawn shop and buy real pistol for $100.

I think it won't go through, especially after someone high up in the (dunno what you yanks would call it) running of new york claimed that a Barret .50 Cal tracer round had quote "These bullets have an incenduary device, these are heat seeking devices!"

i Lol'ed at that one

If you pitch it to them along the lines of "oh, they may be coming for us now, but they'll be coming for you NEXT" you might get a few of them to change their minds.

Gotta be worth a shot (pun not intended), hasn't it?

The above post is purely my point of view, and may not represent any organisation I am associated with...

I will be away from the 14/09/09 to the 16/09/09. If I do not reply to PM's about sales items I've not done a bunk - it's just that I will have absolutely NO internet connection for those three days.

Careful! waggle.gif

The same logic can be applied over here about "lethal" air rifles and pistols. I can still buy a CO2 Beretta B92 or Colt 1911 but I won't be able to buy a TM M92 or 1911. Go figure!

Thing is, from their POV, it's just about removing items from the street. They might not have the right to remove a proper air pistol but even having the right to remove a toy replica is worth doing.
From their perspective.

For some reason the hair on the back of my neck is standing up as if something as dumb and stupid as this could actually happen? The NRA plays a hefty role in gun laws but an NRA rally behind Airsoft guns is a far shot. The NRA promotes safe use of guns in target sporting activities. Airsoft Violates just about every rule they've ever made for safe gun handling but as far as I'm concerned it teaches you more respect.

I will always stand by the fact that all of the "Dangerous Toy Replica" issues come from a lack of education and parenting. It is why I WISH so hard that we could get a video together and tell congress to instead of banning, mandate that every place that sells replica handguns (either airsoft or otherwise) be made to force viewers to watch the video within continental US. I doubt a signifigant amount of these incidents (as the NRA calls them) were caused by a higher end replica such as a GBB, but more along the lines of what you can purchase at a sporting goods store like Dicks, Scheels, Cabellas, etc. The video doesnt have to be long, maybe 5 minutes explaining the US Federal laws on the acceptable use of toy guns.

Me and the entire airsoft community. And that has nothing to do with it. They just get ###### off when they're looking for a picture/video of a real gun, only to find a picture/video of an airsoft gun.

Ahh yes the "Gay gay gun free America Bill" - This happens when you have TOO many politicians with TOO much time, trying gain popularity amongst the GunoFobic parents of America. Especially at a time when any type of activity including themes like War and Guns are just so unpopular. - Just hate it when that happens dry.gif Honestly, these replica and toy gun banning bills are like the plague... Coming to your Cinemas... No! Your Congress/Parliament SOON - This SUMMER! blink.gif Gaahh

What the hell, is real-steel? Oh wait, I get it! Real-steel came from China metal makers advertising 25% steel 75% aluminum as actual steel. Damn, you almost had me there.

EDIT: That was just me bullshitting a fake history for "real-steel"

Oh ###### here we go again...i hate gun control freaks, i really do....

America...wow....just wow...sometimes i think we forget how our country gained its independence, and for that matter the reason we are allowed to own guns. It wasn't done for home protection, but to insure citizens have a way of fighting the govrnment should another revolution be nessisary.

Everyone that was talking about the NRA not promoting Airsoft because it teaches bad gun use needs to reevaluate reality. Most US based reenactment groups are affiliated with the NRA. In fact most have insurance from the NRA in case anything goes wrong. You know the groups that point live guns at each other with blank rounds?
