I've posted this at Everything Airsoft, but I thought I'd post it here as well because if it's true...it's quite exciting.

At the CAW website there is a link to a new product reservation page...the clue is the URL:

http://www.caw.co.jp/store/caw/type100/index.html

Clicking through takes you to a page with google translated text:

QUOTE
Hundred systems the machine pistol
In the past hundred systems which are sold the machine pistol, revival was done with CAW. This receives part supply from [tanakawakusu], at CAW it is the model cancer/gun which was assembled.

I'm reading that as CAW in partnership with Tanaka is to produce a Type 100 Submachine Gun.

To me it would make more sense the other way round, Tanaka to produce Type 100 with help from CAW.

Price listed is 92,610 yen.

What do you'll think? Or am I way off the mark. smile.gif

Cool, but I highly doubt I'd buy one. Here's a pic of a real type 100 so we all know what it is:

It's not going to be an airsoft gun. CAW is making it as a Model Gun or PFC Blank fire gun.

At one point I got the impression that CAW was making a 1918 Bergman and it was an airsoft limited addition. I tried ot follow up on it but ran into any number of dead ennds, including my ignorance. It's a short jump from a Berbman to a M100.

heh yeah, I think I'm getting 'lost in translation'.

Although in all fairness, some of the airsoft products they list, and not at just CAW but other Japanese language manufacturer sites, I've seen 'model cancer/gun' to describe an airsoft product.

Ahh yes, the "buck rogers gun" as it was nicknamed. One of the ugliest guns ever made, still cool they're making an airsoft version.

Now if only a company could make an Arisaka the didn't cost about $700.

I don't think I ever have.

I'm not saying it's not so, Model is usually the giveaway although cancer/gun on translation is common across the two.

Cheers.

"Model gun" as well as the word "PFC cartridges" is saying it is a non-firing prop gun. In general, people refer the word Model Guns to generalize Airsoft and replica model guns. On CAW's website along with Marushin, and HUDSON, (as well as more companies), do make model guns/non firing blank guns and it is listed as "Model Gun" in one word in Japanese.

I had the Bergman MP18. It came in two versions. Model gun which chambered and ejected dummy bullets, and PFC version. No airsoft versions.
