Stealthbomber
No idea if an official message is up anywhere about this but I figure if I can't see it then you didn't either. The management are in the process of mucking about with the sales forums, to restrict access to people with a certain number of posts, or summat. While this is happening people are finding they have problems with accessing the sales forums. Don't sweat it. It'll be sorted out ASAP. In the mean time, if you're having problems accessing the sales forums, post here with a concise description of the issue so we can see who it's affecting and how. Cheers. *EDIT* FYI, this was hatched as a result of the thread HERE.
Pablo
I wasn't expecting this yet either You need to have a minimum of 100 posts in order to access the sales forums. If you already have over 100 but can't see them yet, next time you post the system will bump you to be able to see them again. Arnie is currently seeing if we can all get bumped manually to save having to post.
resz
This is going to kinda hard to do? Im only on 30 posts and usually use PMs in the sales forum. Plus, i dont usually talk in sales threads. Missing the sales section already...
berkelsk
Just so I understand this correctly, those of us under 100 posts aren't going to be denied contacting those who are listing things to sell, we just won't be able to post sales threads correct?
Boar
Indeed, will those of us who tend to lurk in the background still be able to see the sales forums eventually? I understand the reasoning behind all of this but surely those of us with low post counts cant do any harm by buying things?
millest
whats the situation if your were after items but didnt email the person as you thought youd still be able to get on tonight?
resz
Maybe having it so people with less posts can only buy the accessories/parts rather than full guns might be a better idea?
PANZER8
Cheers for the info stealth. (p.s i cant see the sales forum as yet?) EDIT: is this 100post threshold 100posts in total or 100 posts in the sale forum?
Mark
It might have been an idea to inform everyone. I was in middle of negotiating trade and on refresh i could no longer get into sales thread. As said above i do my deals mainly through PM. Luckily i was only a few posts off 100 so not that much of a problem but i can see were other people would have a problem
Apharmd
So, is this part of the VCR preparations?
Boar
It might have been an idea to inform everyone. Mark
i know now i'm there i think. It seems silly to have to do this for 5 posts
PlasticMag
This is a pretty stupid approach.
Bodgeups
Thanks Stealth. Just posting to say thanks + gain my access
Fluffy_Bunny
Perhaps restricting it so that users under 100 posts cannot start new threads in BST would've been better. But the question is... is it possible?
Warning
i reckon some one should possibly sticky this, cause some buyers or sellers could be in a bit of a panic, and perhaps to stop spamming perhaps lock it?
Chris North
EDIT: is this 100post threshold 100posts in total or 100 posts in the sale forum? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How are you supposed to post 100 times in a section you can't access?
Pablo
Apologies for the lack of notice, as I say I didn't know it was happening either. Anyone with less than 100 posts who is in mid-trade, please pm me. Yes, this is part of our VCRA preperations. Those who think it's stupid, consider some other forum's approach - closing sales thread altogether. While you're entitled to your opinion, think yourselves lucky. Any blatant spamming in order to bump yourself up to 100 posts will be spotted and dealt with via a suspension, so don't bother. You think you've got it bad? We have to deal with that for a start. add
there is going to be some unhappy people i do think 100 post is abit much
Pablo
How are you supposed to post 100 times in a section you can't access? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 100 posts in the whole site, not just sales. Posts in Off-topic, for those of you who haven't noticed, doesn't change your post count.
friendlybombers
I'm a frequent Arnies Sales post view and usually pm someone when I want to purchase something. Is there anyway for me to view the sales post now besides wait till I get 100 post?
eddy
Well I'm screwed i am the same i don't post much but send PM to buy. Come on there must a diffrent way to do this.
Chris North
100 posts in the whole site, not just sales. Posts in Off-topic, for those of you who haven't noticed, doesn't change your post count. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know, I was just pointing out the flaw in his thought.
Stealthbomber
Apologies for the lack of notice, as I say I didn't know it was happening either. Anyone with less than 100 posts who is in mid-trade, please pm me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was gonna post to say PM me if you are in the middle of a sale but, well, listen to Pablo. PM him. Not me. Anyway, the idea is just to stop people showing up and starting selling stuff before they become part of the community here. I'm sure you all agree that, despite the hassles, this has got to be a smart idea and I hope you stick it out 'till you've been around for the required period.
