As the title says...
Tanaka's new L96 replica, (not the M700 in the AI Chassis).
Looks good, and $437 to boot.

Interesting.. when I first saw it I thought you slipped up and posted a pic of the M700 even tho you said it wasn't but now I see the subtle differences in barrel and bolt... very interesting indeed...

It's a 3/8" dovetail rail, usually on air rifles. You can get adapters from 3/8" to 20mm, or you can buy scopes with 3/8" mounts - Crossman and Bushnell Make a lot of these, I believe. Heck I still have a Crossman 4x20mm 3/8" scope kicking around somewhere, although that probably won't look very majestic on an L96

Is that an M700 magazine? I thought the L96 mag was shaped differently.
Looks like a nice piece of kit though.

you can't really call that a L96... there is a confusion among the AW family. People always call that as a L96, but that is actually a standard AW .308. The actual L96a1 (which fielded to uk forces) is the original PM (with a differnt stock and front sight) AW is a newer verison of PM but it never used by british forces, instead, the ADF and sewdish force.

I thought that L96 was PM and L96A1 was the AW, but I have been wrong more than once, so please correct me if so (as i use to be).

I was also under the impression that the original L96 was the PM and the A1 was the arctic warefare.....but in order to stay on topic....
DAMN! If only i had waited rather than buying an AICS and a clone L96, i could have just had the Tanaka L96. I wonder will any companies release a fluted outer barrel and flashider for it? More importantly.....how will you mount a scope??!! Id expect tanaka to release a mount for the dovetail aswell, as im not sure most people could be arsed buying either a real mount or getting some horrid adapter in order to fit realistic looking optics
