So PDI has released a few new bits:

TM Detonics:

Stainless Recoil Guide Rod
Stainless Bushing
6.01mm Tight Bore
6.05mm Tight Bore
6.08mm Tight Bore

WA:

new SCW2 6.01mm Tight Bore for 6inch SVIs (shame since DB finally finished my prototypes yesterday, no beating PDI this time)

Also two new extended tight boreks w/ suppressors for the TM P226 and Glock 17

What exactly is the reasoning behind PDI's 6.05mm series [and its apparently overtaking of the .01s...]?

Did they get complaints of jams? Cheaper to make because of the extra .002 of +-tolerance?

I'd be interested to see how much the FPS loss is compared to a 6.01 - and more interested to see accuracy tests.

The 05 was PDI's first series of barrels. Based on what they learned during production, they came out with the 01 to offer a high-end precision barrel. The 05 was always intended to be the mainstream product.
Over the past 2 years, I have seen dozens of PDI 01 barrels in use and have never seen one jam in the barrel.

Ah, I see. I have never experienced jams either and I don't believe they ever do jam - but that doesn't mean there aren't those who might complain about it when the cause is actually terrible BBs or a hop-up issue.

I kind of agree with the Japanese law idea, but I was looking at Maruzen APS-3s, and PDI only make the 6.08mm tight bore for it, which sort of leads me to believe that under certain conditions (ie short range, 134A) that the larger barrel might increase accuracy. Alas I don't speak japanese so I only full of speculation.

I'm really not so sure about the new 6.08's but I'm happy to see that they have come out with Detonics support so fast.

I too have several 6.01's (DBC and PDI) which have run flawlessly.

Now all we need is some metal kits...

I wouldn't call 6.08 a tightbore, because the commonly accepted limit for a tightbore is 6.05 mm. But it can be a high quality barrel nevertheless. I'd take a PDI 6.08 over a STAR 6.05 any day. Then again much rather a PDI 05 or 04.

PDI just added a flat front recoil guide rod. Seems like they are running out the new products.
