I just had a nice introduction and chat with Richard from AZR Machine and Tool Company.

This has been somewhat reported on another site, yet I felt a deeper exploration was in order. Not entirely sure what the origin on AZR is, but it appears as though they are a Philippine concern that is trying to make a name for themselves in the custom fabrication and wood kit niche business.

He provided links to some pics that have been around recently, but these bits caught my particular interest-

This is what he shows as a complete kit to convert an M14 to a -reasonably- correct M1 Garand. (It's certainly not a Hooah Airsoft level product, tip of the hat to my good friend John wink.gif ) The complete kit retails for $165 USD and includes not only the wood stock, and foregrips, but the front-end metal bits as well- Outer Barrel, Gas Tube, and Front Sites as well as the 'Front Iron' -the metal that connects the front foregrip to the upper grip and stock itself.

The kit can be ordered without the metal front bits so that you may use real-steel parts or allow you to configure it as you wish. The price is $128 USD for wood only.

To address how to feed the M14, the stock will be cut out just like a standard M14 is currently, although you cannot see it from these images. The stock will accommodate a standard M14 mag, or 'cut-down' M14 mags to maintain the correct M1 Garand appearance.

All AZR wood stocks are hand made and finished using hard woods according to Richard, and a choice of oil stains can be requested.

From Richard:

"Wood Carvings
We build our stocks from wood blanks. All wood rifles stocks are hand made. Our choice of material is Hard Wood with very good wood grains.

Choice of color
We can offer you some choices of oil based stains for the finishing.

Lead Time
We can ship the finished product in 3-4 weeks after confirmation of the order." -AZR Machine and Tool Company

Here is a wood kit for an AK:

As well, the company creates some interesting metal pieces:

And lastly, a bit more about AZR from Richard-

AZR Machine & Tool Co.

"We have the capabilities to Design, Develop and Produce small airsoft parts and components. Our Machine shop Engineers are proficient in Design Specification.
Our current in-house procedure include Milling, Drilling, Turning, Grinding, Shaping, Welding, Surface Preparation (sand blasting, degreasing), Assembly and Inspection. We utilize lathesand mills, to make and sharpen our own tools using grinders.
We are recognized domestically and internationally as a Fabricator of quality airsoft parts and accessories.

We can manufacture your components using your designs/drawings or we can put our Engineers to work on your project to meet your specifications "

He also let me know that they are currently taking orders in Europe, yet sadly they have not yet secured a dealer here in the US. AZR accepts the currency of the Internet, PayPal

Richard and AZR can be reached at: azrproducts_ph@yahoo.com

Good luck to AZR Machine and Tool Company

Sweet. The wood isn't perfect but that's way more than I expected from some in that price range. Plus doing a little weathering from your guide will make it even better!

I find the metal M4/M16 top/front parts more interesting. biggrin.gif

I WILL get me one of those wood kits. Anyway, the clip conversion has puzzled me... does the conversion kit include the new mag or not?
I intend to misbehave...

Isn't this the same guy who was going to offer a M4-SCAR type upper? I'd love to get one of those once they are available.

I'm pretty sure it is- So he's not without his own bit of 'controversy'

Although I had no idea about all that until after I wrote this up tongue.gif

I don't belong to all the Airsoft forums, ....just the best ones wink.gif

Anyway, I was more interested in his wood products (but I thought the metal work was interesting as well). I'm fairly certain he will work with you in regards to the kit, i.e. changing the butt end to accommodate a more correct M1 Garand buttplate instead of the M14 flip up plate as pictured. Hopefully someone will get one ordered and reviewed up here for all of us.

There is at least one bonus though, apparently he managed to pi$$ sniperx off somehow about the M4/SCAR stuff- Something to do with not responding to questions, being vague and cryptic, not answering inquiries about pricing........ rolleyes.gif

What would need changed aside from the plate to make it 100% Garandish?

Well, if it were me

I would just get the wood kit and not the complete set that has the front end, his is a noble effort, but pretty incorrect.

-Request a flat butt-stock end without the buttplate, buy one from eBay for around $20

-You will need the gas block, front sight, and outer barrel, again eBay from $20 to as much as $60. Or also look at FultonArmory- (Walter Kuleck from Fulton is an Arnies member, they should be able to assist with parts) Also Northridgeinc.

If the gas block is RS it would be illegal to own in the UK as it is a pressure bearing part.

I suppose, another option would be looking for broken Marushin Garands and sourcing those parts.

But wait...What about all those custom No.4's that the guys on Gadge and Sith's site have? aren't those real-steel conversions?

They use real steel parts but aren't actual conversions. All the real steel parts on the Shoot 'n' Scoot Enfield are non pressure bearing (wood, sling swivels, trigger guard, magazine and sights.)
