QUOTE (frenchie @ Jan 16 2008, 16:19 PM)
I will try and keep this short and to the point.

I have resigned as Chairman of UKARA.

Not because of anything I or Airsoft World have done, but because information came to light over the last 24 hours which fundamentally shook my faith in what I have been doing for the past two years and the commitment of others to the same goal.

I found myself quite literally between a rock and a hard place and although some might regard it as cowardly, I have had enough of banging my head against a brick wall.

I fervently hope that the current issues can be resolved for the ultimate benefit of airsoft in the UK.

I hate to throw gas on the fire but what is this issue that has him so up in arms?

There's been an incident with a core UKARA retailer, which also runs a site, allowing people membership after one game.
Which obviously breaks the 3 games in 2 months rule.

From looking at the thread on ASCUK the information is out there as to which retailer/site this is as some people appear to know, but I've not seen them named so I'm not aware myself.

Edit: Just checked the thread again and Zero One/Ground Zero have been named.
For clarification this is just what has been posted on ASCUK and isn't official information released by the UKARA.

There was an earlier mention of there possibly being nothing done by the UKARA about the violation, which unsurprisingly has ###### alot of people off after the Land Warrior incident.

So this means.... what, exactly?

Who's now in charge, what difference will it make, if any?

I'm also curious as to the nature of this faith-shaking information...

So apparently a big Ukara member is being underhanded, and despite frenchies attempts to appeal to the committee, they dont want to rock the boat by removing them. Retailer in Question is Zero One

Well i just hope this doesnt affect the Act that we currently have implace and does not go against us when this act is reviewed. Hopefully UKARA will take swift and direct action to show that they will not tolerate any action like this that could directly affect our right to Buy/own RIF's

Ya i realize that, we have enough crazy people on our side of the pond, but its curiosity. And a shame to see all the effort that you guys have put up to keep playing, something to be proud of, and to keep defending all the time; its just a shame to see something major like this get askew.

Hearsay is that the fact they won't take action could be why frenchie has resigned.

the way its written about gaining membership instantly is misleading and i wonder what they did exactly to fault the rules?

its a great loss that frenchie has gone from ukara, id like to thank him for all his hard work!

If Frenchie has resigned it's a massive loss to UKARA.

He was the one that did the work and wasn't afraid to get involved in the campaign against the VCR Act.

I wish him well, but UKARA has taken a step down the credibility ladder without him at the helm.

so what has this retailer actually done?

A given anyone who turns up at their site membership to their site without a waiting period (perfectly legal) and then sold to them via their own shop on basis of membership of their site (all perfectly legal)

or

B given anyone who turns up at their site membership to their site AND ALSO entered them onto the UKARA database allowing them access to RIFs from any UKARA retailer without insisting on the 3 over 2 UKARA registration requirement (which is in breech of UKARA rules)

If its the former I really dont see anything illegal, however if its the latter then it would appear to require one hell of a sanction from UKARA if UKARA is to maintain any sort of credibility.

edit just read the info on te supplied link

"Automatic and Immediate Entry onto the UKARA National Database for Face to Face Purchases, thanks to our big bro' Zero One Airsoft." certainly sounds like they've breeched the three in more than 2 UKARA requirement (unless of course that automatic and immediate entry means you're automatically and immediately entered after having completed your three in more than 2 months UKARA requirement)

its very vague. But given that Frenchie has called it, I'm leaning towards the fact of immediate entry on to the ukara database.
