Very interested in this. I was on ebay the other day when i spotted that China was knocking out softshells for hikers on the cheap, so it looks like they're producing everything these days. If only they'd do goretex jackets too!
Edit: Just checked ebay - there are cheap import goretex jackets in existence! Brilliant!

Search for "soft shell" and "goretex jacket" on ebay and most of the hits have "£x shipping from China" and buy it now in the advert.

Yeah last time I saw at eBay a PCU Level 5 Soft Shell Jacket size Large ends at $300.00 bucks and another made by Patagonia same size selling for $335.00, plus the pants to go with it that is $250.00 at eBay.
