lovecraft25
Just saw this on Tokyo Marui website : I'm wondering if this is just to promote the 47th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2008, or if they're really working on an AKSU...
Revenge Seeker
Promoting the show most likely. They also had this and I see no reason for TM to go and make more M4s... unless they plan to incorporate the recoil system into them:
renegadecow
SWEET JEBUS!!! I think they really ARE making an AKS74U and I'm only guessing its gonna have the same blow-back gearbox as their recently released AK74MN. And that M4 RIS might sport that modified V2 gearbox with blow-back (rumors of which were floating about lately that TM had patented an M4 with recoil). The last one looks like their MEU .45 edit: with Western Arms and Tanio Koba releasing blow-back M4s, I find it likely for TM to jump on the bandwagon as well.
Revenge Seeker
Could be. Looks pretty nice for an AKSU if you ask me... although the dent on the side looks a little too deep. Eh, but TMs are of the past, WA M4 baby! I still wuv my TM and its sexy high quality ABS plastic.
Ubar
Why bother there is a million other aks74us on the market! Also where would they get a battery in that? on their AK74M it had to go in the handguard... cant see the same working in the smaller aks74u handguard... Marui introducing Li-po?
lovecraft25
Receiver pins & markings look like the ones on their AK74M, right ?...
Revenge Seeker
Actually yeah. It does look pretty much like the AK74MN: Compared to
gunnermaniac
That looks good. If TM included the blowback system and a tracer unit in their guns it would be ace. I highly doubt that will happen though Edit: The real question is, would the chinese clone it...
Fin
Congrats Marui and only a few years late...
neoptolemus
If they do indeed make one, that would be stupid. With the VFC product there is no need for another AKS-74U.
crump3t
I love my VFC74u, but if TM did bring out an SU, I'd definitely end up with one A.)for the blowback, and B.) for a 14mm thread. The PBS-4, while accurate, doesn't fit my Gurlukovich loadout.
vbtb110
AK in question has the AKSU style peep sight, so therefore AKSU
Fin
I love my VFC74u, but if TM did bring out an SU, I'd definitely end up with one A.)for the blowback, and B.) for a 14mm thread. The VFC has a 14mm thread under under the 24 one, unscrew the small allen screw on the threading then screw off the the main threading and there it is! Marui already copied this idea for there 74M
Galaxy613
Hopefully they'll redo their MP5 series with blowback and a V3 gearbox. That'll be most awesome.
DEVGRU14
what kind of RAS is that on the M4?
vbtb110
Looks like an Olympic Arms / JBU style
The Badger
OHFG Tokyo Marui is making teh aks74u! Wait, The Badger just got deja vu, oh yeah VFC did this years ago.... and CYMA.... and Unicorn.... and Dboys. Wake The Badger when they do something more interesting, like make a gun people want (TAVOR)
Revenge Seeker
AK in question has the AKSU style peep sight, so therefore AKSU lol. Well that was useful. Thanks. The Badger forgot Academy and its front folding foregrip.
renegadecow
Also where would they get a battery in that? on their AK74M it had to go in the handguard... cant see the same working in the smaller aks74u handguard... Marui introducing Li-po? The upper part of the handguard (which should hold the battery) has roughly the same length as with the 74. It just looks drastically shorter because of the truncated gas tube and barrel.
Revenge Seeker
Like ICS I suppose.
Minds
what kind of RAS is that on the M4? i smell an AR.....add it with an HK.......then you got.........(fill in the blanks)
renegadecow
i smell an AR.....add it with an HK.......then you got.........(fill in the blanks) HK416? Doubt it. You can't fit an Olympic arms RIS on a 416 as the RIS is its selling point and should be one piece with the receiver.
Minds
it do seems like a 416 (at a glance) IMO. but why do TM wants to offer an Olympic Arms kit? it's unusual for them to work with the "civilian" manufacturer? (purely a question, not a statement) or do they want to repeat the "success story" of M4 S-System but now with shock-drive system incorporated in order to challenge the WA ? (just curious....and what about the battery placement if they're using a free-floating platform? an/peq? or crane/choate/vltor stock?)
Dock trinE
Definitely not a 416. On the 416 the rail doesnt have that notch down the middle of every rail.
DFSM
SWEET JEBUS!!! I think they really ARE making an AKS74U and I'm only guessing its gonna have the same blow-back gearbox as their recently released AK74MN. I really hope it doesn't have the blowback. It didn't look very impressive for how much battery it drains. If it retains the same magazine system as their 74 but not the blowback, I will definetely buy one.
