http://airsofthawaii.org/updates/index.shtml

July 26 - Check in starts at 8:00am, 1st game at 9:30, Last game at 4:00
Hawaii All Stars Paintball Field
Field fee $25.00
Limited to 200 players - Register at Impact Games or PowerEdge
All ASH rules in effect
400 FPS Limit on all guns
Full face Paintball Mask Required
-No Green Spectrum Lasers allowed
-Guns using Li-po batteries are required to have a fuse
-No exposed or external Li-po battery packs unless the battery is enclosed in a rigid case such as a PEQ or battery box. Li-po batteries contained in soft pouches or anything that may be smashed, crushed or damaged are not allowed
-Anyone charging a Li-po battery pack on premises is required to have a Li-po rated charger, balancer, “liposack” fire containment device, and fire extinguisher
-No shooting directly or deliberately at the safety nets
http://www.airsofthawaii.org/ash/rules.shtml

The 200 players limit makes me sad... I gotta get my butt down there and sign up!
I wonder if it's bio bbs only... The all stars site says bio bbs only during "special reserved games" which are games held regularly by ASH. This is a special event and I'd like to know if the rule also applies here... I hate the limitations of bio BBs..

I played at that field in early june and Bio BB's were not required so don't see why they would make them required now.

I don't see why they would choose Nimitz though, I think even w/ the 200 player maximum it will be way over crowded. I think they should bring it back to Kualoa or Nanakuli both have much more room to host an event as large as ASH BASH.

Yay! I don't like bio bbs. They have junk FPS characteristics and aren't so accurate.

I think I kinda see what direction they're heading towards with this new setup.

The thing about Nanakuli or Kualoa is that mass spamming is really easy to do, and quite effective, and no one really moves past the first 5 minutes of the game because cover is kinda small and sparse.

Last bash I decided to see what it was like sitting back and spamming so I made a loadout specifically for mass spamming and I have to say, it was more effective than I thought it was. But I mostly found myself finding a good fortified area to lob my BBs from, and not moving for the rest of the match. (except for that one time some guy with an aug matched/beat my range, and started singling me out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )

With this new setup, because Nimitz is so tiny and has much more cover compared to the huge fields of Nanakuli and Kualoa, people have the opportunity to advance towards the enemy without being caught by some stupid 12 year old with 30rps and a 5k boxmag.

I heard they're going to have 10 teams of 20 which should make things a little more tactically oriented than "lob BBs forward, and assume everyone facing you is the enemy!"

Kind of disappointed because I was building a loadout to combat spammers this year, but I don't think I'll have to change it much to accommodate the new field.

Nimitz? Seems a little too small for the Bash. Any reason why it's not at Kualoa this year?

That is going to happen even more at nimits because the field is so small you can just hunker down where you start and shoot people halfway across the field it is so small.

With 10 teams of 20 people are going to get shot from the get go it just isn't big enough to support that many people.

I would think it would be better to host it at Kualoa and leave the amount of players allowed at 200 and make specific objectives that have to be carried out for the game to be won. If you see someone spamming just flank em or avoid that area until you get someone to take him out.

i dont think that thats the ash bash for this year. i mean think about it, why would they cap it at 200 when ASH BASH is supposed to be the biggest airsoft event in Hawaii. To add to that, they dont even have any prizes OR sponsors. i've been to ASH BASH every year minus 06 (damn California [no offense]) and it is just huge. there's no way that this is ash bash 08.

I remember when I was there at one of the night games and there were alittle more than 30 people I thought it was crowded when we were playing on the hyper ball field. Still 3 fields with 200 people is going to be insane and where is everyone going to park. I think K-bay would be more viable than this if they used all the fields.

edit-We should just go back to Nanakuli Ranch.

The SummerSmash is not the ASH Bash. But, rather a smaller separate event put on by Airsoft Hawaii. The size and scope of the full 'Bash takes much in terms of time, manpower, and lots of planning with lots of people to make it a reality. A smaller event can be held faster and more often for the benefit of the player population. There will still be Prizes given away at the event, and the location has held over 300 players for other events in the past.

think of it this way...at least you dont have to do a brutal drive out to kualoa...or the sweltering heat of nanakuli...not to mention horrid parking

Is there still going to be an ASH Bash this year?

That seems a bit hard to think that the field could support over 300 people.....

Actually Kualoa is not a very far drive for me but I do agree with you on Nanakuli though it really does get hot out there.

I highly doubt everyone will be on the field at the same time. Hence the 10 teams of 20. It'll probably be something like 40 people per field. If there's 5 refs then they can ref all 5 fields. So that's 200 people in constant game over 5 fields at different times. I can see how it might work out.

I'm enjoying how just Hawaii players are posting...

I'm guessing they might pull something and extend it to another 100 players.
I figure that if they don't mention bios in the first set of rules... then maybe they got special permission of use non bios. I'm guessing that Impact is gonna be the sole hoster (maybe PE) but, unless they get outside sponsers, I'm not expecting too many giveaways

But yea... Nimitz seems smaller, they should host it at Kualoa, Nanakuli, or even the MCBH

Maybe I'll enter, I want to see the full set of rules... hope to see all you guys at allstar

I see they are determined that there be no LiPo-related incidents. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But I think that a fire containment sack and a fire extinguisher are a bit OTT. They were necessary with the early generation of LiPos, but more modern ones are far, far safer.

5 fields? I only saw 3 fields and one of them is a hyperball field so that is not very good for anything outside of pistol games if you ask me. 40 people per field would still be overdoing it if you ask me. I could see something like 100 people using the whole field at a time but then what about the guys who are forced to sit out and payed $25.

Someone told me that they added 2 new fields. I could be wrong though. But even if there's still only 3 fields, that's 120 people at a time playing.

I think that they'll have games rotating in and out fast enough to let people reload while the others play. If you think about it, 40 people on one of their fields sounds like a really fast game.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it'll turn out.

It may just be me but I see cramming more players onto a field that can't really support it as to paintball esqe . I hope it turns out good and not into what I think it will turn out to ...... Anyways kudos to Impact and Poweredge for throwing a big event game like this I think it just makes the airsoft community stronger and more united.
