Yeah, that bugs the hell out of me... But, that irritation aside, I'm definitely interested in it. I'll reserve final judgement on just how much the handguards annoy me until after I've see one in person.

Though, ideally, I'd love a hybrid of the new TM AKs... An SU with MN furniture (solid stock, grip, and handguards). Hmm - wonder how cross-compatible the two are?

That looks really pretty lame compared to the VFC lol. I'll wait until VFC re-release their AK74U with their recoil bolt thingy.

I do want to like it, but for that price I could get something that looks much better.

Something about it just looks off... I think it's the rear area of the receiver and the gap around the pistol grip to the stock.
Airsoft needs more PT belt.

I was going to say, it kind of looks stretched out. And if the handguard vents are filled in, it might not bode so well for aftermarket wood parts. But then again, I'm assuming that real foregrips won't fit. I'm sceptical, honestly - I don't think it justifies its price when compared to the VFC and its derivatives, but we'll see how it plays out.

Is it really that hard to put AKS74U? Its not call of fail now

Something else looks odd about it and its not just what they did with the handguards, cant quite put my finger on it though...finish dosent look good but i don think thats it. I think i'd still go for a VFC with its steel construction and solid build

grrrr TM. the dimensions are also wrong too on the TM AKs-74u. VFC AK's all the way! unlike the TM, the VFC AKs-74un also comes with a scope mount too, for installation of those wonderful kobra sights =D! you'd have to be crazy to get this over the VFC, especially considering the prices, and the steel/wood construction of the VFC

And im willing to bet marui has used some lovely cross head screws instead of pins like VFC (and teh Real steel did), ooo i do enjoy watching those heads get ripped to pieces with the slightest over tightening happy.gif

what a waste of time and money put into the manufacturing of this. . Marui made a BIIIIIG mistake.

$400? and you have to buy NEWLY designed AK mags. . .aluminum receiver is a plus but a negative as well since all the AK clones now have steel receivers. . .

best thing to do is invest in the Gen2(all steel) Dboys AKs. . Gen1 had steel receiver/stock but remaining parts are pot metal. ..Gen2 Dboys have 7mm reinforced mechboxes too. .go buy a Guarder steel blowback bolt and install it. . all for under $200....AND you can still use any brand AK mags for the Dboys.

I feel awkward for even having to state this, but Marui make airsoft guns for the japanese market. They care little for the rest of the world.

Judging by the tons of money I'm sure Marui make, I don't think they made any big mistakes. And they'll probably make a killing on this gun.
