Recommended Posts

is that the m85 or m100 ? cant remember :P

glad its shooting like a demon.. get that firefly though, youll see even more improvment with the flat nub.

It says on the packet its an M100, Will be getting the firefly hop rubber as soon as!

Elvis:

Yeah the Delta ring went straight on! was so happy about that! lol

As for the jungle series... I dont know, but what i will say is that My MOE hand guard fits like a dream now, and G&P Delta rings are very Tight! so will be alot better than the TM one!

While fiddling about with my SOCOM recently I noticed an expected benefit of using a Magpul MIAD grip. The swappable backstrap means you only need to remove the pistol grip base to get access to the a

Dont know where I read that Sopmod grip was a bit different to regular grips... can you just put a HK416 grip or some modding is needed?

Thanks :)

When you say grip do you mean Pistol grip or Hand guard?

If its hand guard, then the Sopmod/Socom, has the standard TM thread on the upper reciever (where the Delta ring attaches)

to attach a 416 handgaurd/RIS...hmmm, well, I dont know! ut as the upper reciever on a 416 is different to an M4 then I dont know that it would look great even if you did put one on.

If your talking about the Pistol grip, then although the Sopmod/Socom's Pistol grip has been re-designed to give a tighter fit around the Motor, after market grips can still be used and I would guess a 416 pistol grip would fit.

hmm supprising mine clocks in at 350 hop off, that said if i put a lot of hop on it drops down too 338, so i think yours is right it just depends on how much hop youve got set, and combination of parts..

Thanks Number 5, I meant the pistol grip :)

EDIT: hope a new wider pistol grip doesnt "fruitcage" the motor and gears...

Lol, I thought so!

Im using a MOE pistol grip and its working fine!

RichardY - The hop was fully off, but im only using a 6.03 barrel!? perhaps thats why?

It was giving readings of around 340 aswell, but i am using a madbull ver-2 chrono so its probably just that the chrono sucks!! lol

my latest creation! i call it the Eagle6 Mk3 Lipo :D

Eagle6Mk3lipo1.jpg

poor *albatross* picture i know

Basically my first lipo i made that doesnt require an original sopmod battery to construct

7.4v 3000mah

mk1 i had cells just wired to a connector out of a sopmod battery, not very robust!

mk2, i put the conector back in the sopmod shell and cut the top end of the sopmod battery off, more rubust but still required a 35 quid sopmod batterys death to make one.

Mk3, no sopmod battery needed, i wired up lipo cells up into a faux connector, and fabricated new contacts. Granted time consuming and requires consumables like glue, paint and silcon but costs less by far.. its really sturdy and kinda looks like an original sopmod battery now but lipo power hehe

im happy, blue peter style...

can you just use a lipo battery in the standard tm m4 sopmod? (without any gearbox internal upgrades, etc..)

I'm looking for a way to improve the trigger response, as i sometimes notice if i press the trigger too fast it locks up so i have to full auto it and return to single shot.

Any suggestions?

Also, can i fit a Novesk flashhider or something. Is the sopmod ccw or cw? Want to get rid of that front sight as well, put a frontsight on the rail or something..

ideas please :)

dont know about the outside stuff im not into the cosmetics lol i just like the technical side ;) ive never really gotten the bug to change the looks, the way i figure the m4 is used by the us army in its current shape and form, thats a good enough endoursment of its layout for me.

you can try increasing (winding the grub screw outwards it should stick out quite far) your motor hight and see if that stops the locking up on single, im still investigating that one my end... just needed to finish the mk3 before starting on that.

you can use a lipo just fine it will take 7.4v or 11.1v fine, you just have to figure out a way of fitting the lipo, my way utilizes the quick change connector, others have rewired to the front anda peq box, you could even re wire to the rear by passing the quick change conenctor, theres lots of options if your willing to put in the effort. I wanted a method that would allow the "average joe" who isnt willing to rewire to run lipos.

lockup issue - although ive never experienced it with mine, which would seem to indicate its a rebuild issue, maybe gearbox too tight, or motor height with some peoples guns.

i only get the lockup when i do a half trigger pull or try to spam the trigger too fast, if i do a full and complete trigger pull to the back of the gun every single time, theres no problem, and this was tested with a lipo so battery cant be to blame here.

so is this the guns fault or us the users?

i mean i could go in and take a look about but i dont think ill find anything.

A buddy of mine plays with a 7.4V LiPo 1100 all day, with very good trigger response, I 'll let him take a picture of his set up, really cool

morb , have you done eny internal work to your socom or is it still stock ? reason i ask is i"ve had lock a few times as well and mine had been worked on by the giy i bought it off (though i"d be suprised if its his work as he has a very good name for him self from working on gear boxes) .

mine locks up sometimes as well, but i dont believe it has anything to do with the motoheight adjustment, or gear box. seems to only happen when im on full auto and switch back to semi sometimes. keep in mind its more than just a simple aeg, im sure all the new mechanics have something to do with it. not a big deal if you ask me, it fixes itself buy shooting in full auto a few shots, then switch back.

No internal upgrades whatsoever have been performed on this sopmod cqb-r. It's still a virgin :)

The lockup only happens if I press the trigger too fast. Guess i have to take it easy from now on on that trigger.

I'm happy that it can just be fixed by firing on auto but all of our cqb terrains in BE are Semi only.

Anyone got some pics of what they've done to their sopmods btw? :)

ive got 1 here which does it if you spam the trigger, but on mine its never ever had the issue even if i try i cant seem to lock it up. yet mines been molested more than any gun. ill take the locking one apart tonight and see if theres anything i can notice that might be doing increasing its chance shall we say.

He has real mad ROF to, lots of people hear it and think that he is running a 11 v of something, real nutty stuff !!

I do think he has a real high "C" rate something like 25 or 30 maybe

It's a Kong power 1100mah/15C ;)

Because I had some pm's regarding my setup I took some pics.

It's the standard TM Socom M4 aeg fitted with a real KAC RAS:

CIMG0001-2.jpg

Hey dude, where did you put the battery?

Euhm... in the RAS:

Because of the really thight space I had to remove the fuse and I had to use some separated connectors. With a deans or tamiya connector it would not work. So you don't have any room to spare.

A pic of my connectors (the tape on the ballance plug is just for dirt-protection):

Nice looking RiF Elvis,

Does the grove cut out of the outer barrel help any with fitting bats in the RIS?

I mean by that, bigger bat's, than the one you have there. Dont know if you can, but any idea of internal measurments on the RIS?

Doesnt matter if not, Ive ordered a Chinasoft one to look at how it fits. (before I fork out for a G&P, no RS in the UK! that I know of...)

No, the cut of the outer barrel does not help. The cells are placed on the sides. The wire that joins the cells on the bottom and the connectors on the top. That Kong Power Battery is a real thight fit. The way I see it, it's the biggest thing you can fit in the RAS. You have zero room to spare. That's why I used this type of connectors. It's the only way I could wrap the battery around the barrel. I don't know about other rail systems... maybe they could have more room otherwise you'd have to slim down the barrel.

Elvis,

Nice setup! simple and clean.

so how are the separate connectors? do you have any issue with the connections unseating themselves during battery reinstall when you have to shoehorn it all back into the front? ;)

No, the battery connectors seating is the same as deans. They won't unseat unless you use some force. I also put some electric tape on the connectors for extra protection.

I thought I may share this with some of you guys. I managed to get some really slim Lipo's that'll fit in my Sopmod MB DD rails. The batteries cost me Y3020/battery (USD$36.10 - expensive but, hey this is Japan). It's a 7.4V 20C 1280mAh Lipo in a nunchuck design :-

Very nice Anakchan, so using a 7.4v 20C lipo in a SOPMOD is safe... good to know :)

BTW, I was wondering if someone knew if TM is going to release a CQB Socom Carbine(and when, if possible), I dont want to buy a full barrel socom carbine just to chop the inner and outer barrel or buy the first factory CQB barrel, too much money ^_^U
