sgt.kicker
Didn't Al Gore win one of these for that "documentary"? I'm having trouble understanding the use of quotation marks.
teflon don
I'm having trouble understanding the use of quotation marks. because its not a documentary its propaganda against bush (what a bad loser) he should have called it "the inconvenient judgment"
Chimpy
You've actually watched it right? Propaganda against Bush?!
sgt.kicker
Actually, it is a documentary, since it's nonfiction. Right-wing fringers make me lol.
teflon don
You've actually watched it right? Propaganda against Bush?! only because i had to bush was against kyoto so telling that co2 will kill us al doesn't really make him look good "There are many who still do not believe that global warming is a problem at all. And it’s no wonder: because they are the targets of a massive and well-organized campaign of disinformation lavishly funded by polluters who are determined to prevent any action to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming out of a fear that their profits might be affected if they had to stop dumping so much pollution into the atmosphere." look there you have it its al the fault of the right winged guys wasn't bush funded by oil company's ? its not exactly non fiction there are 9 major errors "The first mistake made by Mr Gore, said Mr Justice Burton in his written judgment, was in talking about the potential devastation wrought by a rise in sea levels caused by the melting of ice caps. The claim that sea levels could rise by 20ft “in the near future” was dismissed as “distinctly alarmist”. Such a rise would take place “only after, and over, millennia”. Mr Justice Burton added: “The ar-mageddon scenario he predicts, inso-far as it suggests that sea level rises of seven metres might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus.” A claim that atolls in the Pacific had already been evacuated was supported by “no evidence”, while to suggest that two graphs showing carbon dioxide levels and temperatures over the last 650,000 years were an “exact fit” overstated the case. Mr Gore’s suggestion that the Gulf Stream, that warms up the Atlantic ocean, would shut down was contradicted by the International Panel on Climate Change’s assessment that it was “very unlikely” to happen. The drying of Lake Chad, the loss of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snows and Hurricane Katrina were all blamed by Mr Gore on climate change but the judge said the scientific community had been unable to find evidence to prove there was a direct link. The drying of Lake Chad, the judge said, was “far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and overgrazing, and regional climate variability”. The melting of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was “mainly attributable to human-induced climate change”. The judge also said there was no proof to support a claim that polar bears were drowning while searching for icy habitats melted by global warming. The only drowned polar bears the court was aware of were four that died following a storm. Similarly, the judge took issue with the former Vice-President of the United States for attributing coral bleaching to climate change. Separating the direct impacts of climate change and other factors was difficult, the judgment concluded." (quote the times)

Jagdraben
American Presidents and what they have done to get the Nobel Prize for Peace: Theodore Roosevelt, for abetting the end of the Russo-Japanese War. Woodrow Wilson, for helping bring an end to the First World War. Jimmy Carter, for putting peace before everything, including his own nation. Barack Obama, for being elected as President of the United States of America. I don't know why, but I somehow feel that they have been lowering their standards of late.... Seraphim989
I voted for Obama, and m glad to see the new direction he's taking with troop deployments, but I too think maybe this was awarded too early. I get that they were hoping to influence his future actions, but still... As for teflon don, I...you...oh nevermind...

Stealthbomber
Oh, and as for posting spam: Wow! I try to be pretty easy-going. I let a lot of stuff slide and I'd always rather discuss stuff instead of doing the whole "robomod" thing. Some people seem to assume that means it's okay to ignore warnings and debate every decision. Wrong! Take a week off.
Phoenix
You would think that he had single-handedly killed Hitler, torn down the Berlin Wall, and cured AIDS/Cancer. The republicans would have you beleive that Obama caused all of these... Either that, or they could just find another airhead with big tits who knows how to push their buttons. Or keep using the one they have. QFT. Yall have fun with your Obama circle jerk... .. With many of the techniques and arms both Britain and the US gave the Taliban to fight the Soviets with. You forgot Saddam's American-made chemical weapons he used on the Kurds. Remember, he's a Kenyan Muslim Socialist Communist. Or KMSC for short. You left out Fascist Falangist Nazi Zombie Baby-Eatin Voldemort-lovin Ingsoc Pedophile. I like Obama, voted for him, but it is too soon to award anything to him. Kinda have to do stuff first. Sniperman15
I think all the mockery will cease when Barack Obama walks across the Atlantic Ocean to accept His prize. But seriously, I'm fine with giving the man a prize, give him a cookie while you're at it, but just make it so he actually DOES something to earn it.
Titleist
So far Obama is the Toyota Prius of politicians. Aint that good for the problem, costs a lot, but people like 'm because it makes people "feel" good. I voted for him on the basis of "change" haven't seen much of it so far. I'm actually a centrist. I don't want to see Obama fail as a president, but at the same time I'm not down with rapid expansion of government and multi-nation apology tours. He's got 3 years to live up to the promises. But give him an award WHEN he does.
Chimpy
teflon don - You're right The Inconvenient Truth does have some glaring factual errors and Bush was President at the time it was made. The film however is a slightly off the deep end warning about Climate Change not anti-Bush propaganda! Not every film that mentions a major world leader in negative terms about a major world issue is anti-them propaganda.
Connery
amen brother barrack hasn't done anything he was going to close down guantanamo asap and it hasn't happened yet America is still at war with Iraq and Afghanistan i don't think that he has done anything to accomplish world peace nor will he ever achieve something important You can't simply close a prison facility. You need to find places to house the inmates first. America is still at war with Iraq because their government is not strong enough for the US troops to just pull out and say, "Have fun!" They still need help with their new found Democracy, especially with the threat of those who do not want it, and are willing to go to extremes to fight it. As for Afghanistan, as far as I know, Obama is willing to fight that war until we 'win'. It was just Iraq that he felt that we had no business interfering. Note: I am in no way trying to defend his actions, I'm of the group that thinks it's stupid to award it to him before he's done anything.
