aznriptide859
Couldn't find the older ACR thread (seemed more of a SHOT SHOW thread), so posted here. eHobby has the PTS ACR folding stocks (in FG, Black, and FDE) for $70. http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=ACR+Multi-Adjustable+Folding&x=28&y=10 It's probably just me, but I think the normal stock looks a lot better XD. Roman!
Wow, that drives the cost of the Magpul ACR well over $500 for the AEG and then to add on the adjustable stock. Pricey. Perhaps too pricey in today's economy?
Slayer750
Its about the same price as most stocks for AR15 type AEGs. I don't know why people are freaking out about the price. In fact, I assumed that the price would be closer to $150. It has the same features as the UBR, as far as I can tell (locks into positions firmly, adjustable cheek rest), which costs around $175. On top of the UBR's features, it can fold as well. Honestly, people need to calm down about the price. Taking an M4 and decking out with Magpul (or even other brands, like VLTOR or TangoDown) parts costs much more.
Roman!
So you are saying it is a bargain Slayer?
aznriptide859
He's saying it's a piece of a modular AEG, something not devised of in the past. If you could spend $800-1000 for a fully modular AEG (i.e. switch from a DMR to an SBR in a moment's notice), would you not do it? This has been covered many times in the past in the ACR Review thread.
Slayer750
So you are saying it is a bargain Slayer? Please try to name one stock that is collapsible, sturdy lock positions, adjustable cheek rest, has the ability to fold, comes in multiple colors, and is under $70. While it would have been very nice for it to have been included with the Magpul PTS ACR Masada as a stock feature, it wasn't. Luckily, it isn't as much as the UBR. You should also remember that the players ready to spend $450 plus shipping and other fees for a toy are probably ready to spend another $70.
somegirls
Seems pretty obvious that Magpul wants to squeeze out a few bucks more by release this stock seperately. They could have just slammed this one on the regular retail model. No one needs a fixed stock if they can have an adjustable one. But as people said, this thing is already frickin expensive, so those 70 bucks won't bug you.
AnakChan
Personally, I don't see the difference with this offering and say an M4 with a multitude of stocks available in the market. The ACR already comes with a stock...if you want to change your look, you have an option (& for a cheaper price than say other stocks for M4s mind you).
epzilonblue
waiting for AK Style Lower & Magazine price tag........ and curved stock rubber pad .....(try to replace with A&K pad but Failed)
Roman!
For all I know this stock and the ACR itself are the greatest bargains on the planet. The stock may be indestructable for all I know. Magpul appears to be concentrating on the upper end of the airsoft AEG market placing itself under the Systema PTW and above the TM and the Taiwan MFG. Not a bad strategy if they can pull it off. Remains to be seen if the economy will support another high end entry into the airsoft market though. Regardless, the price is not THAT much higher than the Taiwan brands so I seriously doubt anyone who is going to buy one will regret it. Will be interesting to see how many more modules come out for it. Like the M4 this thing has unlimited potential for accessories.
jgarnreiter
Just ordered mine. eHobby has pictures of it with the CQB barrel, so that's a good sign that it's also close to being released. As for the price debacle, I don't see $450 as being outrageous, and I think $70 for the stock is more than fare. I usually end up putting in an $600 into a $350 gun anyway, so I just see this as skipping the foreplay and getting done what's going to happen anyway.
Elvis
That's some good business planning! And those guys at magpul are really good at that. First they create a hype about the acr, then they release the "basic" model and everybody buys that, just to be the first to have it. Then they release the "upgrade" parts, which everybody buys again for their basic model because... seriously, nobody wants a "basic" model Or you could wait until they eventually release the model you want and you know they will... if you're lucky maybe they'll have solved the problems which occurred on the first models. Hey, don't listen to me, I'm just bad for the economy...
WhiteHawksan
MagPul = rip off but, no-one makes you buy it. MagPul will release it in the smallest bits possible for maximum profit. Those that want it won't care, those that care dont' want it. $70 for a stock isn't ALL that unreasonable, at least not for MagPul stuff. I mean UBR is a lot more than that. But in the end they'll release models with all the various different options RIS/FS etc anyway.

AnakChan
So I received my stock today. It's solidly built, and it fits into the ACR fine. It's everything a stock should be...until....I tried to screw in the single point sling mount onto it. ? The lower screw wouldn't screw in but the upper is fine. What's going on? Doh! There's no thread in the lower bolt . Guess this goes back to Magpul . I guess they were in a hurry to rush these out they forgot to thread all bolts. I'll take pics and upload them later. Edit...it's now later. No responses so far so I can still add to this post . Weight :- Fixed stock = 402g Foldable stock = 417g So this is how the stock is post installation on the ACR. Nothing new near, looks more like the A&K now. Here's the stock folded. Note that it doesn't clip in like the SCAR, but it's spring loaded at the pivoting point. The tension of the spring isn't that strong though so not a lot of force is require to unfold the stock. As for using the cheek rest, you actually have to pull the stock position back a little (by one notch) to give the cheek rest to be able to click back. Finally, here's a close up of where the sling mount's supposed to screw into. Note that the left (lower) has no threads. Note that the mount point sling can only be mounted on the left side of the ACR since the stock folds to the right. A little uncomfortable for lefties but not that big of a deal. Maybe some kinda mount point at the bottom would have been somewhat more "ambidextrous". But then it's no longer matching RS.

All the hype around the Masada, and there are reports of them missing parts, having feeding and switch issues out of the box, and now this? I'm cancelling my UK pre-order. Magpul should stick to making nice plastic parts to bolt onto M4's; There's no excuse whatsoever for hyping a gun this much and not ensuring it meets the required standards, let alone contracting ARES of all people to make the gearbox... Dissapointing
AnakChan
A little sad to add, but the single point sling mount is also slightly outta alignment from the fixed stock. As such it's easy to strip the threads off the screw. I actually don't know how to take pictures of this as it's more of a "feel" during the tightening of the screw. So I'm gonna have to send that back too.
WhiteHawksan
while disappointing I think this is rather unexpected, reports of faulty gearboxes and faulty parts, MagPul are famed for top quality (and top dollar) this is really rather disappointing indeed. Mr Foxhound
How is it supriseing? Other guns that are more expensive have failed bad to. Its nothing new. Lemons exist, thats just how it is. I got two lemon CA 36s, yet some people swear by them. It just happens. 400 bucks or 100 bucks, airsoft guns have failed. Atleast PTS is letting you send them back easily, some company's wouldnt do that. Most of you complain about internals, yet are going to replace them anyways... Looks like a nice stock at a nice price. Shame they rushed it out. (Happens with other companys to)
ehobbyasia.com
Yeah, and you have to remember, you don't get hear about the 1000+ units sent out that are perfect without fault. But the 3 with fault are "big news" that is over hyped. Realistically the chances of a lemon are very very very slim.

jgarnreiter
Just got mine in today. My only gripe is that that Upper Receiver pin doesn't quite line up perfectly with the top holes in the stock. It makes it so the pin won't go in 100%. Kind of annoying but I can deal. Overall I'm actually very pleased. There is ZERO movement in the stock when it's retracted at any length, something that really bothers me with my UBR. It's light, solid, and compact. Worth the $70 in my book. Here's a quick iPhone pic
Squeek
Here's a couple of my own low qual iphone pics. I have had the exact same issue as you with the upper hole being out of alignment with the upper receivers. I'm thinking of trying to file or drill it to sort it out. Only need a mm or 2.
