Western arms has announced the release of their very own Kimber MEU Det-1/ICQB 1911 pistol. Looks to have The original Dawson precision type rail which is removable instead of the TLE/RL type rail that prime has marketed with their Kimber ICQB kits.

The sights are novak lo pros and the grips are replicas of the original simonich gunner grips. The mainspring housing is also equipped with a lanyard loop. So it seems that WA has finally reached the version of the MEU pistol that collectors wanted in the first place and paid extravagant sums to have reproduced. And now it's available to the first 200-300 people with 230 or so dollars to shell out right now before they get snapped up.

I very much doubt it is an actual Kimber. If WA had aqquired the Kimber licence, they would be shouting it from the roof tops. Its most likely a cleverly designed logo that is not quite the same, so as to not infringe copyright, but yet look like the real deal to the untrained eye. When you compare the real Kimber logo to the one on the WA there are some minor differences. Still looks nice though. I'm pretty sure it's out on the 6th of June.

The color is much too light for the real grips. I just received a package from simonich for my latest builds and the color and texture is quite different, but man do they grip. Gotta wear gloves tho, because they are quite sharp and aggressively cut.

It looks like an imitation logo. I really can't tell.

Before a gun was even chosen for the USMC MEU requirements, the marines already knew what magazine they wanted, the Wilson Combat 47D, which is what is depicted in the photos.

I cant belive the US Marines would be that picky. Knowing Wilson they proably cost $500 a mag.

Well ya know unlike in airsoft, their lives do depend on their pistol being able to chamber a round without jamming. Surplus 1911 mags from the Korean War aren't going to cut it...

the 47D mag is $27.95 direct from Wilson Combat. The marines pay alot less since it's a bulk Govt. contract...which is a lot less than the 50 bucks per mag that WA charges for single stack mags.

The follower on wilson mags pushes the leading round up much higher than other generic mags and they are considered bulletproof by those who have to use them for a living...as well as staying alive.

Its true. My older brother is in MFR, and he buys them direct from Wilson Combat for himself. Carries a good load of pistol mags with him. Its the last line defense between him and the enemy before he has to use any hand-to-hand combat. I also use the 47D in my comp. shooting because of how good they are. Used for a reason by everyone.

I am suprised that the MFR and the like don't use something like the USP .45...
It seems strange to stick with an ooollld design when there is better stuff available(more capacity, less recoil, etc...). Though I guess they still are the most accurate things around. And they are sexy too... smile.gif
