Stephen Merchant plays Wheatley, if thats who you mean?

If that's the same bloke who did the voice-over for the ISA advert with the woman on the bouncy castle then yes. His timing is just immaculate, the lines near the beginning all bemoaning the corporate structure, managers etc, brilliant. I did like the idea of the posh victorian-era butler type accent they had going on for the robotic eye in some of the trailers, but that definitely would've begun to grate after a while, so I'd say they made the right move getting in merchant.

I had worried that wheetly would be a totally annoying charicter, but he has shown some... interesting development... ;)

I am totaly properly and utterly stuck where i am, somewhere in chap7. there is no clue of what to do, and no way of doing so :(. I've been back 3 times with the whole fresh mind theory. hasn't worked.

Given up for a little while, got stuck a while after the po tay toes incident.

Was doing my nut in, so will try again tomorrow with a fresh head and all that.

Wheatley is excellent and after po tay toes incident, I'd say Glados goes from strength to strength. Cave Johnson is EXCELLENT as well.

Don't know why but I seem to always get stuck when the answer is actually pretty simple ... Like right at the beginning of chapter 6 and around chapter 7 with that cornstarch moon juice stuff ...

Finished it, and a second time with the cometary. I really hate consoles even more than ever, because this game had to work with consoles and their rubbish controllers they neutered all the difficult bits :(. Result is a game with no challenge.

The atmosphere is fantastic and the character development and so on are spot on. Just the simplification of some puzzles (as mentioned in the cometary) took some of the fun, and a lot of gametime out of it.

I talked about that with a co-worker of mine, although enjoyable the tests all felt a bit too simplified compared to the original Portal. There wasn't those kind of puzzles where you had to have some dextery with the mouse to solve them.

All in all, it was a very satisfying game and compared to the Homefront that i played a few days earlier, WAY better .... This game still is one of the VERY few that made me laugh hard.

Aggreed. There is a lot of arguing and ranting going on on various forums (inc the steam forum) that sujests portal 2 is (at best) dumbed down for the console'tards, and (at worst) designed for consoles and ported to PC (rather than the other way round)

Its a real shame. There is a note in the comentary about peoples responses to the trailers such as the propulsion gel*. Aparently lots of people got scared that it would be really difficult, but the puzzle in that video isn't all so hard anyway! You could manage that on a console. But because of these fears the game got made easier.

There isn't any "advanced" maps, like the origonal, the only other content to the single player story is the multiplayer. I've only done a little of that, but its quite good.

The story is, as you'd expect from valve, perfect. I just want more challenge. Its a puzzle game, it should be puzzling

I had initially dismissed this, even though I really enjoyed the original game, as I was concerned it would just be more of the same. However, after watching the videos posted above and reading a few of the comments, it seems to bring a little more to the table. May just have to pick it up after all, assuming I can remember my Steam account details, it's been a while.

I've seen a couple of those comments and the "console port" is utterly ridiculous ( and you don't need to be a expert programmer too know that ) but indeed the game as been designed with how consoles work in mind.

Still they could have made the challenges more, well, challenging and still be perfectly playable on the console.

They should make Portal Maps repository where people could upload their maps and be easily accessible from the game UI.

Have any of you guys played Portal: Prelude? It's a fan-made "prequel" to the original Portal game by some guy in France - his game is absolutely amazing, and TBH a lot harder than the original Portal. If you guys get bored of P2 you should give P:P a try.

Ha, pee pee. XD

EDIT: Trailer.

Fox, portal 2 ads a LOT to the story of portal 1, enhances the character of GLaDos beyond what I can possibly say without totally spoiling it. Plus it adds in 3 more charicters with more depth than the trailers give them credit (Wheetly for one)

A "repository" is all well and good, single player maps would be distributed as they are curretnly, multiplayer maps will deffinatly start appearing and hopefully valve will "support" some of them within updates and so on.

I played portal prelude a long time ago, and it was really good, if unpolished, I'd second the recommendation for that.

As we are mentioning mods, there are two for half life "precursor" an d "research and development", both are very good and worth a play.

Portal 2 is the best game I've played in 2 years, hands down. I thought Wheatley was brilliantly done as a character and GLaDOS was also developed very well. Only thing that annoyed me a bit was that with all the puzzles they went with "bigger is better" and to be honest I actually found myself getting a little bored at one point whilst playing through the Gel bits as it was feeling a little samey.

Or give someone the money to gift you the valve pack.

On a vaguely related note, Anyone wants to add my steam you can do, Its the same as my username but with no hyphen (because steam is to backwards to understand simple symbols that appear on every keyboard!)
