I have the Star handle with the fake Zeiss red dot. I knew it was not going to be very good optically, but I needed it for a photo. The only nice thing about it is that there is a rail on the handle and you can add a better unit than the Star red dot. The handle optic is bad, and the red dot on the fake Zeiss isn't even a nice solid red dot, it is fuzzy. Here it is on one of my G36's

I was looking to get a silencer on my G36C I am considering buying. I was looking at a 30mmx150mm silencer. What are the measurements/silencer you have, as it does look quite nice.

Shame the quality of the optics is bad, as appearance wise that combination of handle & replica Zeiss looks really cool. Oh well, i doubt i will ever get around to having enough cash to get a decent G36 setup built before the VCR snarls things up anyway sad.gif

How many Star products have you owned/handled?

Everyone is always very quick to slag Star off, but 90% of the people who do, have never own a Star product.

Ask yourself this: If Star made ###### stuff, would Guarder really want to put their name on some of Stars products?

I also own the same setup as Eltee up there...and must agree that both items are one of the worst airsoft products I've owned. And I do own quite a bit of various airsoft products from practically all the HK and Japanese manufacturers. The optics are totally unuseable. The handle and sights are sitting in my "to get rid of" bin. I emailed Star about it and of course to no reply. I also have the ARMS replica mounts made by Star and Kings Arms and KA versions are much superior. Star versions tend to strip threads very easily.

I'm thinking of getting the version with the rail on, then at least I can bolt on a decent red-dot sight. Depends how high it would end up sitting though, and it wouldn't look 'real'.
Dammit, I hope the one on the full length CA G36 is even a little better.

I wouldn't suggest to mount a dotsight on the scope handle.

As a little comparison: If you mount a RDS on the rail handle of the G36C it's about the same sight-line as a carry-handle mounted RDS on an AR15. A RDS monted on the scope handle is at least 3cm above the level of the standard rail-handle. That's a damn high sight-line

Well, Star is a Japanese company. The materials they are allowed to use for airsoft parts is limited by ASGK standards. I have had a few stripped threads on my TM, WA, and KSC stuff. The metal they use is just too soft and will strip if you apply too much torque. I have not handled any Star parts myself so I will not comment on the quallity of their parts.

We can only hope that when CA releases their G36K/E series, they will have decent quality optics.

Right, useful info, thanks.
I'll probably go with the G&P scope only then, but I don't suppose aiming will really be an issue with 3000 rnds in an electric feed C-mag on an MG 36. Spray and pray all the way! tongue.gif
