As a result of D.E.D’s involvement with the NJ and Federal Law Enforcement agencies D.E.D has just received information that the NJ government is looking in to banning Airsoft in NJ; some of the reasons for the ban are: continued violation of the mandatory orange tip rule, The lack of organized insured playing field, and the lack of regulation concerning recognized face protection.
D.E.D is at the front lines trying to protect the sport for fellow players but WE can’t do it alone!!! Players must stop removing orange tips. We must also bring Airsoft from the back yard to Insured Airsoft field , and mandate the use of Airsoft approved face protection.
Players it up to you to save your sport and D.E.D will help…
Contact dan@dedusa.com to find out how YOU can save OUR sport…
IF IT GETS BANNED IN NJ YOUR STATE IS NEXT>>>>>>

Isnt there a law in effect stating that the orange tips can be removed for film or private use, or something to that effect?

Firstly, it seems like the large majority of serious Airsofters are to blame for this, not a small minority of criminals like in the UK's case. For years, professional Airsofters have been removing orange tips and it seems that Arnie's is one of the only places where this is not a condoned activity. If there aren't enough professional playing zones in NJ then either the sport is not very popular there, or people just haven't put in the effort to start sites. If face protection is not being enforced as a rule, then again, it is skirmish organizers that are to blame there.
Secondly, if Airsoft is banned in NJ, you can simply move to another state where it is legal. In the UK, we don't have that luxury. We are UK citizens and if it is banned in our country as proposed laws plan to enact, then there will be NOWHERE we can move to without places like the US easing up on their unbelievably stiff immigration policies.
This may not be the best place for you to rally support, but if there are members here that want to help you, I am sure they will post here.
For what it's worth, I do hope Airsoft is not banned in NJ because it is essentially a safe and beneficial hobby - banning it makes no sense from a safety perspective. However, it sounds like in this case the ban is coming in because Airsofters there repeatedly ignored existing laws as if they didn't matter.
Good luck with keeping it legal there - hopefully some re-education of the area's Airsofters could be the best way to keep things ticking along in NJ.

It takes me two hours to drive to CQB at Manassas, you can get from NJ to another state in less time than that.
Also, stop removing the orange in public.
Get another petition going, shouldn't be to hard to rally support for this cause. [I]Especially when the NRA headquarters is about 3 hours away.

Just to point out, there were threats a while ago that Airsoft would be banned in NJ....it seems to come up every time some dumb kid misuses the springer that he got off e-bay.... What we need to do is ban stupid people from breeding and having stupid kids..then the sport will be safe

Sigh...
Shao, its funny that you say that. Most of the bonehead people passing anti replica laws are spouting complete ###### about how easy it is to convert these replica's into live firing devices.
Imagine the politicians shock when they find people buying REAL guns just to play a sport.

Exactly my point.
On the other hand, there're already real steel sports, recognized by the Olympics too.

Go to http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/ and look at the schedule - NOTHING is planned. Do a search of bills for the 2004-5 session and NOTHING related to airsoft, soft air, air soft, softair, etc. 'Gun' turns up 7 results. None of them are related at ALL to Airsoft. The only thing close was "S1507 - Enhances penalties for trespassing on private or posted property while possessing a firearm" and there is NO mention of airsoft there (2004-05 session).
Having looked through the New Jersey legislature's page, I would like a little more substantial response from BOTH sides here with evidence before anyone else starts jumping up and down like a traind monkey.
http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/topic...670&whichpage=3 has my comments and most of Grim's comments.
I must say that at this time I believe this is a whole lot of hype and not much else.
