I was at an event yesterday, I was buying BBs and some goggles. They asked me if I wanted excel, systema, or stealth BBs. When they said systema I was suprised. So I got a bag of those to try em out. I have not used them yet so I don’t know how they perform on out the field, but I thought I would let you guys know that they make em.

On the side of the bag it says:

Caution!

- Since this BB is made mainly with barium sulphate, it is easily weathered. Please make sure to promptly reseal the ziplock bag.
- This product is for airgun use only, not to be used for ant other purposes.
- Never reuse the BBs that have been shot.

On the other side it says: (the important side)

Material test results

1 polymer identification………… PS-HI(High Inpact Polystyrene)
2 polymer (%)…………………… 44.6
3 Barium Surfate (%)……………. 51.2
4 Calcium dioxide (%) ………….. 1.8
5 Titanium dioxide (%)………….. 1.0

Test methods
1 burning test, fourier transform infrared spectrometry, pyrolysis gas chromatography
2 Thermogravimetry
3 JIS K 5115
4 Chelatometry
5 Diantipyrylmethane – absorption spectrophotometry

Maybe they do indeed double as coffee beans - grind them up and filter hot water through them. Guaranteed decaf! Now with more barium sulphate yumminess.

Im guessing these are being marketed as true biodegradeable bb's?

If so they're a MUCH better deal than the other biodegradeable bb's out on the market currently.

I also like the packaging. That bag should prevent the bb's from breaking down while in storage.

Meh, I like my G&P(or toytec) .28's, looks like you're just paying for the name brand of systema.

You guys are missing the point here.

Eventually i forsee most if not all US skirmish sites requiring the use of biodegradeable bb's. The current biodegradeable bb's out on the market right now are absolutely ######. They have a very short shelf life and they're just not as durable and consistent as regular bb's.

If these systema bb's are up to par with existing non biodegradeable bb's only they themselves are actually biodegradeable then everyone wins. They're a much better deal. 14.99 for 3k rounds isnt bad at all.

Now, the question remains. Are these bb's truly biodegradeable or not?

Should I just throw some out side and see how long it takes them to biodegrade?

Not technically accurate actually.

Some polymers invented in the 60's or before still show absoloutely no signs of degrading in over 40 years, according to scientific testing.

Conscidering it was a airsoft bb's, its been coverd up with layers of dirt by now so if it cannot be seen it does not exist.

Im not a very technical guy, and hey if I were in the future I would think its dead cool to find little round peices of plastic and have no idea why there are millions of them in a concentrated area.

And they will dissappear over time. Beleive me; im qualified to say that.

Therefore, your not technically accurate.

Right, so by you reckoning, it is just fine to drop a crisp packet on the street, and because it gets blown somewhere that you can't see, you don't need to worry about it?

Don't be so short sighted.

You think biodegrable means that it gets covered by dirt so you can't see the BBs?? You could not be more wrong. Biodegradable means that it is capable of being decomposed by biological agents, especially bacteria that will break it down into it's components over time, and will not harm the environment.

It will not be 'cool' for people to find that much litter in the future.
