well, according to this pic on the news page TM new gun, this is TM's next gun.

is it just me, or has this been completely unheard of (airsoft wise) until now ?

what is it? who uses it ? why the *fruitcage* are they making THAT for ?

who wants a bastardised Armalite/SIG spawn, when they could make something different. oh no, wait. it means TM dont have to make new magazine moulds dry.gif (maybe)

so much for the L85 coming out anytime soon, if they have to release this thing first. dry.gif

How narrow minded are you? The sooner people realize how little marui care what we in the UK think the better.

The type 89 may be unheard of in Britain, but it is very well known in Japan as it was built for the National Defence Forces of Japan.

im not narrow minded, just confused about the gun.

if i had of known from the start it was the rifle of the Japanese army or whatever, then it would have been pretty obvious. but since i didn't know what the pissing JSDF was, i had no hope. i know full well Marui have little interest in our island. dry.gif

SniperX of Classic Airsoft fame indicated that these were filled in a special order for the JSDF as training weapons.

What a crappy new model to bring out, its not as if the jsdf have been in any wars lately, not a well known gun, what a waste of time, if they`d brought out an L85 it would be flying off the shelves...but then maybe they`ve got their eye on the VCR bill... huh.gif

Doh! yes the L85 might sell well in this country but where else do you think it would sell in any large numbers? There is a much bigger market for the type89 than there is for the L85, dont get me wrong im desperate for an L85 too, but lets not forget where TM is based, i'll give you a clue, its not anywhere near the UK

Indeed. The L85 has practically no appeal outside the UK. I was under the impression you guys hated the thing aswell. tongue.gif

In a twisted way, this is yet another Armashite clone.

(In a way, so is the L85, being based upon the AR-18 design and all)

There is a unit in I think Malaysia that uses Academy L85`s, two units in Poland depicting Brit units and a couple of groups in the U.S. as well so there is an interest in the Brit side of things all over the world but most use an M4 as an alternative because there is no alternative rolleyes.gif

Lots of people in HK use custom-made L85 AEGS from HFC springers and P90 guts.

What I meant by no alternative is that if you are depicting a Brit the M4 is the only alternative, the MP5 is only used by SAS and Police, I`ve never known Brit forces to use P90, G36 etc, and I personally like a gun to have a bit of history to it which is my point about releasing a gun used by one force only and no conflict history that I know of. The argument for TM not producing the L85 because the market would be small is tosh, they produced the Famas which is only used by the French and therefore should have a small market but they went ahead all the same rolleyes.gif
