From G&G, a side folder straight off a UMP, adapted for an MP5... Maybe this means a UMP is in order?

You mean DSA??? They sell stocks and accesories from the Swiss manufacturer Brugger & Thomet .
Nothing I would like more than a UMP but I highly doubt it, I think they are just trying to produce a copy of B&T UMP folding stock, hopefully it will be a good replica and most important, it will be cheap, since you can buy the real deal for around 200 to 250USD depending of the dealer.
Anyone nows the date of release???

This are B&T stocks, there is five diferent models :
*For the MP5k 11.5 inches (the one in the 1st, 2nd 3rd picture)
*For the MP5k 10 inches
*For the MP5, MP5SD, HK93, HK94. (the one in the 4th, 5th picture)
*For the MP5k for use with helmet riot shield
*For the MP5 for use with helmet riot shield

From the pic in Guay2 website I guess they reproduce one for the MP5 family and another one for the G3/MC51.

That last MP5 there actually kinda reminds me of a UMP. In any case, I DO hope a UMP comes out. It would make a LOT of sense, as the UMP seems to be replacing the MP5.

It's not really replacing the MP5 all together, but it was designed to replace the MP5 in certain spots where a .45 caliber bullet would be more needed.

hang on a darn cotton picking minute chaps- doesn't this mean that we could, dare I say it, get a ca33e and stick a g3 sidefolding stock on it?!

The HK33 uses an MP5 stock so be sure not to buy a G3 one.

does it? I notice the 33 only has room for one bolt, but the modelling of the part where it attaches to the main body looks more like a g3 than an mp5 stock- are you sure?

I think the internal fitting design is the same and they are just cosmetic differences. It's been a while since I had an SG1 in front of me, but never an HK33.

hmm, that would make sense, thinking about it- the 33 seems to bear more resemblance in the body dept to an mp5 than to a g3...plus it makes sense for CA to release a model based loosely round an mp5, rather than tool themselves up totally for a new model which they aren't going to make a thousand variants of...

I shall look into it before purchasing! cheers...

The UMP comes chambered in 9mm as well and it is sort of phasing out the MP5, but a lot of agencies are going slow as the MP5's been around for ever and everyone likes them. UMPs are cheaper and lighter btw.

In regard to an airsoft UMP, it may be a reality in a year. A friend and I are in the process of starting up a custom airsoft buisiness, and the UMP is going to be one of our projects. We should have all our machinery in a few months, including a computerized CNC machine. We will start off with simple stuff to get the hang of it (like metal glock slides, etc) then eventually make full-blown conversion kits and complete guns. Don't you dare tell Marui though, or they'll start making UMP's. :( Well, even if they do, we will be making metal parts to replace marui's plasticrap. :D Expect a lot of heavy metal stuff from us, as well as guns that nobody else has thought to make yet (can you say "SVT"?) :D Our name will be CLAW so look out for is in a few months. Unless we fail miserably or give up the dream
