I have never understand the purpose of the R.A.S. II... it comes with a solution to a non-existent problem...

it will most likely get rid of any barrel wobbles...not that I have any barrel wobbles without it...but for all the people that seem to have a lot problems with that...but it was developed for real steel under the assumption that it aids in stabilizing the barrel along with the RAS...

It's free float RAS which doesn't require you to remove the front site and the barrel nut. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

not sure if it's free float as RAS II utilizes a handguard cap and delta ring...I think it just solidifies the receiver to the front connection...Lewis Machine &Tool went one step better by making a one piece (monolithic) receiver and RAS(and which by the way is free float/interchangeable barrel)...which should be replicated by one of our better HK replica manufacturers in the near future... ;)

RAS 2 is free float as it doesn't utilize a handguard cap. Here is a picture of my old RAS 2 installed on my friend's SR-16 M4 AEG:

I really, really hope it comes in that hideous silver colour and someone will buy it to tell us how "cool" it is. Even though I know it won't.
That's it! you're going to spend an eternity with indicisive dullards!

Where are you taking me?!

Here is fine....

Someday I am going to do this.

Tackleberry...you are right as I see in the photo but at the same time I have come across real steel photos of RASII with the handguard cap. And also the GP replica have the handguard cap. Is it possble that KAC made 2 versions of the RASII? Or maybe it can be used with or without the cap. I see the PN # is the same...another way of doing something similar is to get the short (4inch) picatinny rail from Bushmaster and attach that between the receiver and the RIS to strengthen the joint and therefore minimizing the barrel wobble...

edit: I guess if it's free float as it seems to be from the inputs, it won't help the wobble. Only if the barrel's attached to the RIS/RAS.

Exactly. No need to keep the cap, but if you want you can.

To avoid further questions how it works, take a look to the KAC installation manual for RAS 2 :)

If you install a RAS2 on a real steel CAR15 it is easier to keep to handguard cap since you will need to remove the front sight to remove the handguard cap.

The best way to remove barrel wobble is to get a reinforced barrel and a metal body. I have two AEGs with metal body and reinforced barrel and they are rock solid:

Tackeberry...I assume that's the new GP 635 MBK...I just got mine and installed couple a days ago. Few problems I had with the install...the top hopup gear was really jammed into the inside wall of the receiver, I had to dremel a bit inside the receiver so it can turn freely also the magwell is very tight, I can't just push the mag in without pushing in the mag release...Did you install with the fake bolt cover? I didn't even try, it was already too tight..

I didn't have have that problem.

I just over-stretched the spring for the charging/cocking handle.. I have done that on a couple of metal bodies. The next time I am going to install a metal body I am going to use a G&P cocking handle, since it has a hole for the hump on the mech-box
http://test.gp-web.com/en/productspop.php?pid=438
or I am going to saw off the hump on the mech-box. (I did the later on the M635 mech box after destroying the spring)

My mag-well is still too tight but I don't need to use a lot of force to insert a magazine (which I hade to do when I first got the kit.)

I have installed the fake bolt. It was a bit tight but it worked.
