Certainly not a design i was familiar with until a bit of a google trawl, but it does look like it would be a bit of fun to own.

Cheap too, HKD 900 from Guns N Guys. So, who wants to buy one and give some feedback ?

Yeah, as i say google enlightened me to what it was, though i suspected remington because of the action. I would assume that it is gas powered like most other SP products, cant say for sure though as i havent found a whole lot of info on the damn thing smile.gif

spring bolt action guns need the mag to be further forward so i'd say it was gas

I've got the original Sun Projects XP100, the only external difference is the body. The internals may be the same, built like a tank but it has fixed hop. (the might add an adjustable hop to this one)

A joy to use, 25 rounds in the tube mag (the new one looks like it takes a normal rifle mag) but needs a good pistol scope (4x40 pictured) with 10"-12" eye relief.

According to Sniperx, this is an overpriced hunk of SH*T. He also said its very plasticy. I'd stay away from it.

She couldn't understand why they chose to flirt so closely with the death of the world.

No it's not.

The TC is Break Barrel design, while the XP100 is a Bolt Action. Completely different designs, same basic idea however.

actually there is more than one style tompson contender. break barrel is what everyone is used to seeing. there is a bolt action target model. but you aer correct it is not a contender. i didn't look at the pic fully. it is more or less just a custom target pistol. built off a M700 short pull bolt action....atleast that is what i can see.

I'm pretty sure there is a real steel pistol like this - I had a photo of it in a very old Guns and Ammo yearbook.

Cheers.

There are real steel versions of both the above guns. As for the stock/grips being plastic... They are on the real gun (Nylon in the early models). Anyone got a metal grip on their M4?? Thought not.

"The other type of single shot hunting pistol commonly seen today is the bolt action. The Remington XP-100 was the first pistol of this type from a major manufacturer. The XP-100 was introduced in the early 1960's, based on the same short bolt action as the Remington Model 600 rifle, which came out a year after the XP-100. For many years, XP-100's were only chambered in .221 Fireball caliber. Naturally, many hunters privately re-barreled their XP-100's to calibers suitable for big game hunting, and eventually Remington saw the light and chambered their super accurate single shot pistol for a variety of high intensity short action rifle cartridges. Most XP-100's were supplied with 14 1/2 inch barrels, although other lengths are sometimes seen. Stocks were originally made from DuPont "Zytel" nylon, same as the famous Nylon 66 .22 rifle, but later walnut and laminated wood, as well as synthetic stocks, became available."

"The success of the XP-100, and later the Contender, spawned numerous single shot hunting pistols from small manufacturers."
