Hi guys, I've recently traded my AEG for a Aps2 Type 96 with some stuff. I lov that thing so much.......Well anyways, I've wondering how effective the sniper role is in a skirmish. So i'd appreciate some kill shot stories or how you took someone down.

Please include a lot of details. How the target looked like through the scope, and ect.

everygood story will deserve a +1.

Thank you everyone.

one of my friend used his upgraded VSR-10 with ghillie suit, he stay in the same spot for the entire game, and shot like whoever is coming into his way, and it was funny that no one knows where he at til the game stop, and a sniper can use as scout to report enemy's actives, and to shoot them when the enemy is alone and when they not paying attention, but a sniper to against more than 5 people is not a good idea

I have 2 from this year, only 1 for now because I'm lazy

Cherry Creek scirmish, WNYAL, mid last year

Rifle: Heavily tuned Tanaka K98, no scope, 2 mags (18rnds)

Pistol: TM Mk23 Socom, stock

20 v 4

Game starts, we set an ambush across a short bridge, my team consists of myself, another sniper, and two "spotters" normal players since the other team thought we needed them.

I wait for them to get about 3/4 across the thin bridge

2 kills, 18v4

They scatter, the spotters move in for some reason and are both immediatly killed, shortly thereafter, they try the bridge again

1 kills 17v2

I'm spotted and retreat

Sniper #2 is setup back somewhat and off to the side in order to cover my retreat, we were planning on leapfrogging backwards picking them off, he gets two and is hit

I take up position to his side and get another as they move up and eliminate him

14v1

They move past my position, not knowing where I am, I shoot the last person in the group, then move up a little and shoot the 2nd last person before they realize my aproximate location, I retreat again

12v1

At this point they spread out in an attempt to triangulate where I am exactly, I retreat back to the opposite side of the hill they previously hit the other sniper on, looking over the top I hit one across a ravine ~200 feet away, his "out" isnt heard apparently, as they advance I leave the top of the hill and move to the opposite side, I saftey kill an enemy at ~5 feet as he crests the hill, then fall back into the ravine just next to the hill, crawl forward and penetrate thier hunting/searching line, the kid gets asked if he is dead on the way out and he claims he was saftied to them, fear starts to set in ;)

10v1

After they pass, I again crawl to the near the crest of the hill and shoot another in the back at ~200 ft, and get a followup kill on one of his squadmates who moves for poor cover not knowing where I am.

8v1

I fall back again, this time I'm pretty sure they know I am somewhere on this hill so I fall into the ravine, downstream a hundred feet or so, then lay on the bank, I get one trying to cross the stream to check the other side, then a few seconds later another cresting the hill, again

6v1

After getting the person on the hill I see them coming and come under fire, but at this point am out of ammo for the 98k, I chamber a SGM by hand and take out the offender

5v1

The remaining team swarms my position and I come under heavy fire, I lay perfectly still and wait, I could tell by the frequency of "near misses" they didnt have a zero on my position, I wait for a reloading opening and get up to run, making my way down the bank then cutting back into the woods, I dive behind a fallen evergreen and immediatly start spiderman-crawling, rifle slung on my stomach.

I crawl directly away from the Opfor, then to the side under a low evergreen trees branches, lay my rifle down, draw the socom, put on the silencer and wait, Opfor continue to lay fire down on the downed tree I am no longer behind, eventually they reach it and swear a bit before moving on, they walk past me no more than 10 feet away, I wait and shoot the last person in the back, no one hears the shot, he doesnt call out just starts to walk back to base.

4v1

at this point the opposing team quits

I was doing a small weekend skirmish and was sitting up behind a small rock wall with decent cover, I had my G3SG1 dialed in on the point man from the OPFOR and was waiting for him to go by when one of the OPFOR walked right ontop of me. I took him out with my USP and began to egress after about 20 feet took a defensive posture and began to aquire targets again. I was able to get another OPFOR in my sights and took a shot dropping him. I began to move again making my way down hill tword my pre-designated "Extract" point. the OPFOR were now flanking me and moving in the same direction. I took cover in a patch of trees and took another shot and another OPFOR out. There were two more OPFOR left, I made my way further down the hill takeing fire. As I made it to the "Extract" I managed to take out another OPFOR but was shot in the head by the last man with a shotgun. All the running and gunning for nothing in the end. But it was fun none the less.

And before anyone says anything the SG1 is a sutiable sniper weapon :P

Don't just jump to conclusions about AEG's being bad sniper weopons. If you know anything about AEG's, and have a skillful AEG smith. AEG's can be just as good a sniper weopons as any springer, if not better.

Actually the most effective snipers I have seen was actually a hopped up TM G3-SG1, and a CA G36-k with a TM SL9 conversion kit on it.

I believe he posted a review on how to do it somewhere in these forums. His Username's Kov.

Heres a pic of it, before he popped in the gearbox :D

I have the exact same gun and i can understand why you love it so much.

The first game i played with it, I actually played as a sniper (In Ghuille suit) not a sharp shooter that many players tend to play and after myself and my spoter set up position ontop of an over grown cargo container started to scan the skirmish field for potential areas of risk for our advancing troops.

The main bottle neck of this particular field is a coach that tends to house the oppersition teams snipers or recon squads who using both its huge mass as cover along with the excellent sniping positions within to put a stop to the advancing team right in the middle of the field.

After 5 minutes i was rewarded with my spotter telling me to focus on the rear most window along the length of the bus where an enemy sniper hadtaken position using the creepers that have grown up the side to conceal himself. Taking into account the range and wind and switching to a heavier weight in BB's I took aim and was happy to not only score a headshot but also for him to claim it. (Alot of the time a sniper will have to hitsome one at range 2 or 3 times before a hit is declared) My spoter with his binoculers declared i had hit him clean in the middle of his goggles.

Within seconds I had noticed 3 members of the oppersition gathered to make a break through the front exit of the coach and set myself up to take out the lead target, Just as i took the shot he turned and the BB missed him hitting the guy at the back clear in his mid section, he also claimed this shot. The remaining two thought that they were being attacked from the back and moved into the coach again out of view. This allowed 3 of our team to take up position around the coach door.

*We did not have radio contact with them but it was so perfectly timed that it might as well had of been*

Needless to say they swept the bus clean while we gave covering fire, the oppersition had no idea where we had taken position due to he ghuille suits we had and the wraps around our rifles. thus making us virtuallly invisible even though we were right out in the open ontop of a large cargo container.

Some points i took note of after the game:

* Do not wear your ghuille suit into the field, that way the oppersition will not be look out for sniper fire, if they are they will be looking for people in uniform, not bushes packing long range fire power.

* Scout out a good position when not playing as a sniper if possible you will not draw as much suspision if you do so in a Ghuille suit , then return to it the next game.

* Work in a team of two, make sure they are packing something a little heavier my partner was packing an M14 Sopmod, giving us full out if needed at CQB. I now have a MP7 which is very handy.

* Once you have a good position don't move unless you come under fire, if ther game ends try to be last out of the field, if you went undetected you can then return to it.

a highly, highly tuned aeg can be a reasonable sniper weapon.

making the assumption the sniper rifle and aeg are tuned equally, the sniper rifle will allways win.

what an aeg really needs is a longer tappett travel and much stronger tappett spring so it can make a good consistant seal with the chamber.

my K98 should have dinner plate sized groupings at 300ft this year, the next rifle I have on the drawing board should be even better, aegs cant touch this.

A friend of mine who I've been playing with since I started airsoft has a Sun Projects M40. Its a very, very nice piece, and upgraded too far beyond forum rules. I believe it has a PSG-1 tightbore inner barrel running through it, and he keeps a suppressor over the end to hide the little bit that sticks out.

Anyway, this thing is accurrate as hell when its in good working order (at the moment the hop isn't in its best shape). One time he let a friend of ours use it for a game, and this guy was on the opposite team from me. Well by the end of the round he and I were the only two left. I was at the bottom of a heavily wooded hill, and our friend with the M40 was somewhere up the hill waiting for me. So after hearing a few shots go by me, I think I have a good idea where he is and I find some quick cover.

Honestly, I thought for sure that I was totally protected, but apparently a little tiny bit of my elbow was just sticking out. I was sitting there thinking of my next move and then WHAM! A .30g BB slams into the little section of my arm that was sticking out, and that was no easy shot from the distance between us. That day made me totally appreciate the bolt action rifle in airsoft. :D

Now when my buddy has his M40 in hand I love to be his backup.

today I put my sniping skills to the test and failed miserably. It was pooring rain today and we where doing a pilot down scenario, I was on the rescue team so I went off by myself to try to take a few of the terrorists out behind were my team was attacking. Pretty much the only way too get behind them was too go accross an open field, the field had a shallow gorge in it just deep enouph to lay down in and not be seen. I crawled through the mud (ruining my walkie talkie sad.gif ) one inch at a time while the rain soaked me to mush. It must have taken me at least half an hour. I finaly get to some cover, by this time our teams were fullly ingaged in combat and I come up closer. I take aim and pull the trigger...nothing happens. I quickly fiddle with the saftey putting it back to fire and right as I am about to fire I get riddled in the back with plastic death. rolleyes.gif . So much work for nothing mad.gif I guess I should have checked my surroudings before rushing in. laugh.gif oh well.

Night game

5Inches of snow

Viking village terrain (we played at the yorkshire farming museum.. )

I was hiding in a loft area, with a small window to cover the main south gate.

I see some movement, but its gone.

Its -5degrees C, im shivering, been playing for 6 hours

THen more movement, two figures creep out of the shadows, and try get to the other side, they pass my house, and im only 2m away, hidden in my loft.

My VSR is quiet as a dream, the first thign they knew about the shot was Andy (one of the enemies) squeling from a perfect buttock shot.

The other target dives for the well structure in the middle, doesnt have a clue where I am.

There is no light, so there was no way to see me in my posistion.

Im looking at the well and see an oddly round shape sticking out, I fire, more squeling..

Two buttocks shots in 1min, I was proud :)

(this is a true story, and I have many more)

I got a few...

Using: VSR-10, Stock, with a red dot.

Wearing, just standard Russian BDUs (no ghillie etc)

I took an Objective with 3 people and one medic. Most shots at pretty close range.

I sneak up behind the objective...

First shot was at some random guy standing by a landrover.... he walks off .

I see him walking towards the medic, so i go to shoot the medic, but someone walks infront of my shot... meh another kill anyways.

Meanwhile the first guy has mediced.

3rd shot i hit the medic.

4th shot i hit the first guy again.

5th shot i hit the last guy... by this time he's seen me.. about time!

Other time.

Using Vsr-10 no sights atall.

I shoot some bloke, easy shot...

He sees me, goes off to get mediced, and comes back for me.

I can see him through the bush infront of me, but the Vsr wont fire through it.

I can wait till he clears it. However i know full well that he'll come round the corner and full auto my *albartroth*, so i jump up and slot him then fall back down... all i hear is:

"Hit, you jammy git"

The othertime i was messing with a friends L96 inbetween a game (we were still on the field though)

I start messing about seeing if i can go PC game style and bunny hop whilst running and hit a target.... fire a shot off.... the BBs sails down range and clocks soneone on the side of the head....

Time for a story from a victim.

At my local the last flag to capture was heavily defended, by several AEG and one lone sniper in a tower. After several attacks we send all the AEGs out of the game, and the marshal calls "one shot kills". All that stands between victory is that one sniper hiding in a tower. After respawning and realising that this sniper will pick me off if i run, i drop down onto my belly and crawl. While i'm crawling i see some of my team being sent home by the sniper. So finally i'm within 20 foot of the flag.

Between a small wooden barrier after ten minutes of crawling i was going to enjoy wiping this sniper out. A quick look over the barreir reveals he's still in that tower 7 foot off the ground. I pull my head down again, look at my AK checking to see if its in full-auto. I push my head up again to see where he is one final time and BANG. I knew something hit me on the face mask but where. I walk into the safe zone and exaime the face mask, right between the eyes, very impressive.

I now devote my time in airsoft to hunting the snipers who roam this land such is my hate for them

We were playing at a place we call Area51, an old cannery, 4 teams against eachother. I was moving across one side of a room alone in the dark, I could hear & see 2 other teams fighting eachother at the other side, maybe 200' away. I ran into my teammate (Wupjak on these forums), who was looking at the other side of the room, where 2 opposing teams were fighting eachother at the far wall/offices. It was dark enough where it was difficult to see. Plus, it was kind of funny to watch the other two teams fighting eachother in front of us as we sat there. Anyway, since the game started at dusk, he hadn't used his NV mounted sniper rifle, I brought out my NV monocular and spotted one guy hiding in a hallway about 65-70 yards from us, sitting just below a window. There was enough light for Wupjak to see the window, so I told him to take a shot about 2' below the window, 1' to the right of the corner. 1st shot or two misses, then I see another guy walk up to the first guy to talk. I tell Wupjak about him, just below the window, he shoots him, first try. 3 more shots, the other guy calls out. Although I wasn't doing the sniping, he was shooting blind. Might be my favorite airsoft moment ever, and I never fired a shot.
