Finally!! Tanaka Works is set to re-release their 4" .44 Magnum hand-cannon in stainless!

For all you fans of the movie 'The Professional' also known as 'Leon', this is the gun that the corrupt cop "Stansfield" played by Gary Oldman used. You may also remember this was the debut of a young little actress named Natalie Portman.

I have been eagerly awaiting this re-issue!

If you look at the picture you provided you'll see that it's a 3" not a 4". On the four inch the barrel protrudes past the ejector rod housing, on the above image it is flush.

A nice piece though probably have to buy one, wonder if they'll do a 6" for Sledge.

The original short barreled M29 was 3" and a fraction of an inch.

I've had both the black and silver version, and the silver one was one of the best Tanaka revolvers that I've had.

Interesting to see wheter it´s a "Mountain Gun" version or with full lenght ejector shroud. I wish they made one in Midnight Blue as well.

Altough, I´ve had really bad luck with Tanaka guns, especially these shorter-barreled revolvers have been a major disappointment.
Continuously looking for broken (as long as the sound board works) Master Replicas Force FX lightsabers. Also interested in Parks or Larbel hilts.

Only a matter of time. I wonder how do they decide which gun to make (or re-make). Maybe they'll re-design and remake their Colt Pythons too. Or, I'd like to see a S&W 58 .41 magnum. happy.gif

Well BigAl, I'd agree with you if you were right smile.gif In point of fact S&W never offered the M29/M629 in a 3" variation, with the exception of a couple of 'Performance Center' pieces and the M629 'Trail Boss' none of which a NYC Detective would have carried in 1994 (When the movie Leon was made) as they were built after that.

Here is some light reading for ya-

I have just been watching the professional again, definately a 4" biggrin.gif

Hey Guiness you just double posted incorrect information. As a holder of a FAC for over twenty years and an ex owner of a Smith & Wesson 629 3" barrel Lew Horten Limited Edition, I think I know what i'm talkin about!

You should try reading your own link mate, excert taken from your link;

'As with the blued Model 29-3, the stainless 629-1 was offered by Lew Horton in a three-inch Combat Magnum version. Five thousand of these were manufactured in 1985.'

Below is a Screen Cap and a picture of a 4" compare the barrel/muzzle.

Lt Fenix, thanks for those better screen caps, it's not a Horten Special, it's a custom gun but the barrel is 3". Will see if I can find some pic's of a Horten Special for you.

Never understood why everybody bleats about Cybergun while, at the same time, singing the praises of Umarex and UTG.

I've had a 4 inch Zeke'd M629.

Aside from the fact it was the old inconsitent Pegasus system it was gorgeous.

A little OT - Don't know if this is news, but they've also got a 6" silver Python.

THat python is gorgeous, been thinking of getting it myself. Anyone know how well it will stand up to green gas?

I've got a tanaka M629 8" and have always used that with green, with no problems...

Unfortunately, it was long out of stock, until Tanaka's next re-release, whenever that is.

Heard the first batch of Pythons didn't shoot that well, so hopefully when Tanaka finally decides to re-release them, they'll fix that too. smile.gif
