Is there a real-steel counterpart to this?

ICS makes this, it's their new RIS. I've been told it'll cost around $90 (At most). It's real steel counterpart is made by Olympic Arms and can be found on their website here: http://www.olyarms.com/?rootView=browse&view=cat&ids=firsh

Anyone looking to put this (or any similar rail system) on their CA M15A4 be warned, you'll run into the rail height issue. The CA M15A4 flat top upper receiver's rail is out of spec, it's too tall by 1-2mm. This means the top rail of any aftermarket rail system that is to spec will be lower than the receiver's top rail. In the case of a monolithic forend like this one which normally gets you a nice long uninterrupted top rail you will get this instead:

Most unpleasant.

we've done a couple of guns with this front end already. it looks ok IMO. you just got to be careful not to over tighten the locking screws on the bottom becuase they break easily.

So the RIS itse;f can be run over, but the screws holding it to your gun can break easily...

Well that's well thought out.

But it still fits the CA m15 a4 without any mods?

Sounds allright, is there any that will fit smoth on the top, I'm guessing the ca one, but they only sell it with a new barrell, and it costs a lot more.
