Soz to sound totaly stupid but how do u do the quote thingy when you post replys?

click the quote button at the bottom of a post so it goes orange than simply tyep your reply and hit post and it will add the quote in

Easier still is to hit the "Reply" button. This will add the quote to the top of your post, and allow you to see it on screen in code form while you edit.

The "Quote" button is meant for quoting multiple posts in the same reply, although if only used once, it does work in a similar way to the reply function.
