For all those Americans who thought they would never be able to use pyros in their games. *Probably isn't news to everyone, but it should be helpful.)

Here is a civilian-legal smoke grenade for all us Yanks to use. They only come in one color (white) and they aren't cheap at $30USD a pop. But I suspect that they fill a niche, particularly among Mil-Simming airsofters, that cannot otherwise be filled (AFAIK).

So. There you go. A mobile smoke screen. If you've got the money and you play a lot on urban terrain, or you think some concealment would be handy for your next major op/event, these are probably the smokes for you.

Seen em before. Only downside to these besides the cost, is that the actual smoke screen isn't as thick as real smokes.

I play with GlockGuy945 and yeah, I agree, ALS smokes are nothing new.

There's lots of other smokes you can get too, pull-ring maritimes, so on and so forth.

My company bought out essentially the entire North American stock of expired maritime signal smoke from Orion a few years ago. I sell them to the airsoft community at CAD$8.00 a piece and we've been tossing them around like candy here. You can't beat the price for performance! Too bad it's a finite supply though, and we also had to purchase other expired signalling devices as well such as paraflares and hand flares that aren't used nearly as much.

He he he, I love those para flares. I've used them a couple times. WAY better than your typical 12g flares.

I sometimes play with Franc of Combat Depot, he has cold ignite smokes that put out a BUTLOAD of smoke, for about 8 bucks.

Sportsman "somke signals" lay down a hell of a lot of smoke, fast. I can get them for 6 USD a piece, I throw those things all day long!

meh
these are old...

and all smoke grenades are civilain legal. they are considered fireworks.

anyway i have 24 of ALS large smoke. 12 white, 2 in red/green/purple each. they work great. better than my old German imports but not as good as a M116 (IIRC) military smoke... but now. M116s are freaking 100 bucks if you can find them.

So, um, could us poor pyro-less yanks get some links to this aformentioned bounty of smoke pyros (that don't cost $30)?

Yeah, distraction devices you won't get because they are considered to be NFA items (Destructive Devices) as the charge weight is over the 50mg permitted in Class C firecrackers. I'm surprised they sell the smokes so freely in this post-9/11 era, figured they'd adopt a more "why-do-you-need-that" attitude so common amongst defense manufacturers. You wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through to get certified to purchase military munitions, and I'm a professional pyrotechnician!

And since I've had some enquiries about them, no we CANNOT ship the marine signal smokes outside of Canada. Too much regulatory hassle and expense.

I will dig it up in a bit.

I have 5 of the arty. sims. sitting around... thing is after we took our FV432 apart for the STUG III conversion... we have nothing to fire them with.

Also as far as buying the smoke goes. the reason they aren't restricted is because they re used by CIVIs for things such as tracking air flow inside large buildings( IE stadiums, concert halls, ect)... (yes we got to pop 3 of these in a stadium)
