Looks like a viable alternative to the SR25 for people like me who aren't keen on having to buy a load of new mags.

You're coming off as quite condescending.

EDIT: Unless you plan on playing Mr. SpraynPray with your SR-25, you shouldn't need more than 2 mags, especially the 470rd hicaps. The gun is a designated sniper/marksman platform, 840 rounds should be more than enough.

The real SAM-R is the USMC's 'Designated Marksman' rifle and is unique to them.
AFAIK, they don't use SR-25's and the like- Just the M21 (when 5.56 isn't enough to 'reach out and touch someone').
I quite fancy one to go with my MARPAT- Any other takers?
PS: the G&P SPR was a 'kinda, but not quite' version of this, I believe.

Navy SEALs use a large number of Mk11 mod 0 SEAL packages, far more than the USMC uses SAM-Rs.
Some Mk11 BR platforms are in use by LE/SWAT units.
The G&P SPR is a Mk12 mod 0 (i believe) replica, a correct one if you have the Colt receivered variant. Not related to the SAM-R.

Without going off and doing a data mine, I think you're right about the G&P SPR- Alas mine has that silly Marine marking they stick on everything.
Some of the photos on their product page I remember from researching this months ago- I went for the SPR since it was the closest thing in looks to the SAM-R- Plus being my first 'rails everywhere' rifle, I could dispense with authenticity and cover the thing with all manner of add-ons...

The SR25 and the SAM-R have nothing to do with each other, other than the fact that they both look sexy and have a full stock...

Not true, the USMC ARE using SR-25s they just never designated it the Mk11, in fact the Army and Marines are using SR-25s now. They just added a shell deflector.Other than that there is no difference between I have a few pictures of them using it. Just PM me if you want them. I dont want to send this thread any further off course.
On topic: The SAM-R does look like a great addition to G&Ps designated marksman rifles. If only I had the money I could do a great Marines loadout.

it's true, i chose an m15 because i could mod it into a sniper rifle, an assault rifle, an smg, and a (machine)pistol. i can have all these in one platform and use the same set of mags (m16 mags). if the price is right on this aeg, i might be one of the first few to buy this

Thank you, thats exactly what I meant. Maybe I could have worded my initial post differently, but sometimes I forget just how anal some of you guys really are.
The fact remains, although some of you choose to forget it, that for non-geardos performance, function and practicality are the primary factors governing the choice of a weapon. The SAM-R will be cheaper than the SR25, takes mags that everyone already has loads of, will be just as accurate as the SR25 and will be able to perform exactly the same function. So if some idiot wanders up to me and makes some remark about real steel or loadout I reserve the right to tell them to *fruitcage* off.

Looks good, although I want a new short gun not a long gun, also G&G internals make me feel cold inside.
7 day suspension you say?... Oh well.

My bad, for some reason I read G&G. Nothing wrong with G&P though. Getting one before the end of the month.

On a more critical note is that G&P didn't include the ambi-catch and pri charging handle latch. And for ultimate realism a Colt/FN trademarked M16A4 body
