Theres a thread somewhere about the ICS L85 but it seemed silly to resurect a dead thread. Really just a quick update on the ICS L85. I sent them an email yesterday and they got back today to say:

QUOTE ("I Chih Shivan Enterprise Co. Ltd.")
Thanks for your mail and support ICS .

We suppose to release L85 around Jan 2007 .

Thank you interest on ICS .

Originally talk had been of releasing it around Novemeber, seems its now set back to january 2007. If I had to place a cash bet on when it'll actually be released I'm going for early-mid february. So probably be in at Z1 who stock ICS by mid-late february. Anyone else got any more news about it?

Since all that they've shown so far is a few 3D models that look like they were rushed up in 3DSMAX - I'd say that I'm not enthusiastic.

Plus the G&G is going to be veeeeeeeeeery hard to beat.

ics HAVE to do something AMAZING to beat the G&G.
Lets face it, the G&G is pretty much all you want. It has a blowback mech, good build and isnt that expensive.
The only thing i can think of for people to choose the ICS over the G&G is either significantly cheaper, or comes with a SUSAT, and even then, it would still have to be cheaper that the G&G.

Probably will come with two hicaps, a SUSAT, and a cheaper price.

Well they could make a blowback mech that lasts, but they have to obey the laws of physics too so. I'll bet it's just rubbish like DarkLite said. And then I'll laugh pretty hard too.

Number of ICS motors I have seen burn out = 2.
Number of any other manufacturers motors burn out = 1 (STAR).

Number of ICS Metal bodied guns I have seen SNAPPED IN HALF = 3.
Number of Any other Metal bodied guns I have seen SNAPPED IN HALF = 0.

Plastic bushings, higher price, bad wiring and plastic in the handguards.

Yes. All things I want in a gun.

I glad that ICS are releasing an L85 as well, more choice is never a bad thing. ICS are a good manufacturer IMHO, a friend of mine used to own an ICS MP5SD5, and I think that it is one of the best MP5 AEG's out there, along with CA.

Would be interesting to see what model L85 ICS wil release (A1 or A2), would also be interesting to see what features they give the final product, i.e relistic field stripping like the G&G for example.

Roll on January!

Mmm this sounds interesting...but i just bought a G&G...so sue me i couldnt wait tongue.gif

This kinda means that if G&G get the SUSAT all wrong and give us another poor performer(like the Star from what i hear) then maybe ICS will give us the decent susat...

Nothing wrong with having a backup plan

Sorry if slightly off-tpic but..
Out of the 2 sa80s in the market(g&g and star), which one is more reliable, and accurate? Also which one resembles the real steel better?

And does the STAR one have a fully plastic gearbox or are the gears actually metal and the casing plastic?

STAR is more accurate to the RS, but G&G is cheaper and preforms better and is more accuarte.
STAR has a plastic GB with steel gears.

I think the only way ICS can really make this cutting edge competitive is to include a fairly good quality SUSAT as standard. A good hicap (not their fugly oversized M16 ones) and a good quality build. What would be nice though is if the G&G and ICS SUSATs are interchangeable. As that would create a bit more competitive. I understand the STAR SUSAT can fit the G&G model but that the reciever rail requires some filing down to allow for this. Not something you nessessarily want to do to a brand new £300 gun.

Equally the general consensus from STAR L85 + SUSAT owners I've met seems to be that the SUSAT is nice, but its not really a £100 piece of optics that its sold for. Maybe £65 would be closer to home. But again its the old "we'll charge that because people will pay that". That is one benefit of the ICS model however good it is or isn't = more models will mean more price competition.

You guys are all wrong. ICS has uped the anty on their guns. The M4a1 now uses metal bushings, new wiring, the ICS turbo 3000 is better than most high quality motors, and I know a guy whose ICS M4a1 shot 500,000 rounds before the upper gearbox cracked. Only problem he had with it. Oh man, it am crack! $16 to replace it. ICS is a GOOD COMPANY. Stop thinking of their old versions of guns and start thinking of the present.

I am probably buying one, depending on the price. To hell with G&G if the gun is $300.

the metal they use on the MP5 body at least (wouldn't know about the AR15 body) is still weak ,thin, lightweight pot metal that doesn't last 5 minutes when compared to B+T or even older CA bodies.
The wiring is just bloody awful and carries no current in all of the ICS guns i have had

Having had four ICS guns in the last three years, as well as two CAs and one TM, the ICS guns win hands down every time.

Never had any problems with them at all, bar the odd double feed.

okay can we get back on topic?!

Why is it every thread with ICS In it has to resort to "ICS ARE TEH *beep*!" .... "NO ICS ARE *beep*!"

Issues with ICS? - okay, don't post in the ICS L85 thread then.
