Brief FAL review

My only gripes on the FAL are this:
The foregrip is incredibly thin
The mag release....not 100% suitable for lefties, and the metal feels like it could snap at any second
The base of the stock where it attaches to the receiver looks like it could snap with very little pressure. The stock is two halves pressed togather.
The pistol grip is awfully thick for even a gorilla pawed ###### as myself. It's not terribly uncomfortable, but if they were able to angle out the grip like on the real steel FAL it'd be 100 times more comfortable to use over extended period of time.
On the positive side though:
It's sexy
It's sturdy
The weight is evenly balanced
Mags are easy to load (inserts like a G3 mag)
It's got a long pull (personal preferance. I have long arms)
It's a phreakin' FAL (actually it's an HK G1 they based it off of...but still it's a FAL)
Aside from the few negative things listed above there's really only one other thing I would like to see. For the long FAL I would love to see a wood kit. Or the same handguards that they have on the Shorty version.

FN manufactured the 500,000 G1's Germany had, not HK.
The KA FAL is very generic in the fact it really dosen't replicate just one FAL version.
It has:
1. Inch style sights
2. The G1/StG58 styled handgaurds
3. Belgium style lower on a Type 3 (?) upper
Since it has the synthetic stock and grip, I would say it is closest to the Austrian StG58, but it really ain't one of those either. Kinda' the textbook deffinition of "FrankenFAL."

For the uneducated the StG58 is the closest to an accurate description there is for the aptly named FrankenFAL

The replica has the Inch pattern sights, to make it an Inch replica, all one would have to do is fit the Inch furniture and controls.
I perfer the Metric sights better, I gave up my RS Inch FAL for a Metric.

The thin foregrip is not an issue, since I want RIS anyways. The stock could be beefed up probaly if its an issue.

I'm a leftie. The selector switch isn't nearly as intrusive as the selector switch on the G3 (I owned an A4.)
I don't know if Andy has cracked her open yet, but I'm assuming KA copeid the V3 mech box, since the FAL kit is based off the SiG-552.
Te mag release is a little tricky for lefties, but with practice you can hit the relase and remove the mag in one motion.
