Since getting my new CA249 I suddenly want an FNC a lot more.

I wouldn't get overly excited, it made by STAR. Which means it'll be overpriced, and the charging handle will snap right off.

It seems that Star's reputation is on the up lately though... and I haven't seen anything out of VFC about them doing a shorty version of the FNC.

So I guess we just wait and see...

I don't know one star mecbox that have break yet...all from m249 whit 50000 round thru it , to a star sa80 whit no problems ither.

the plastic mecbox seems to be at lest as good as the pot metal ones...and plastic flexs..metal dont. and if the mecbox breaks...just buy a new one! they are cheap.

the sidefolder is standard on an FNC...

i think i realised my boo-boo - i saw a pic of the FAL with a sidefolder and RIS front. that was the one i wanted to see in that config. am i correct in thinking its KA that arent releasing the sidefolder for their FAL for ages ?

Yup. I've seen that happen to two different Star FNCs already.

And they both seized after very little use.

And their shot groupings where SLOPPY - you couldn't hit the same spot twice. In a crono tunnel. Target was ~5 meters away.

Star FNCs look nice (until the charging handle snaps off), but their internals are complete ######.

Wait for them to fix the problems, or better still, get a VFC.

Ugh. The FNC is beautiful, yet another case of RAS-rape. I see that the FAL has some RAS for it too. Will this ever end? Leave these 70's-80's guns alone and put that ###### on your modern ######! What's next, RIS for the Garand? You kids and your accessories, in my day we used tape to put a flashlight on a gun.

I wanted a star fnc shorty badly, this has tipped me over the edge, not to rape tho, just an elcan or a nice optic and a grip

VFC will release their FNC in early 2007. Just after their AK-line. My guess april-may. The toprail is hot! Don't know about the RAS though...

Actually, the "standard" version uses a solid stock. The folder is for specialist users who need compact storage capability - like paras, commandos, armour, etc.

Why did they abuse such a beautiful weapon so?

EDIT: I can see the use of the top rail and it doesn't intrude on the overall look too much but I would like to personally shoot any person I see using the RIS kit, with an AEG upgraded to 500fps, and a hi-cap magazine, and they don't get to wear any protection.
